Angry In a tight spot with my 2000 tranny!?!

I'm new to this forum but looks well informed. I have a 2000 TL that has a salvage title(bought with 2 doors broke). My transmission went out a month ago at 52,000 miles after I got it back from a wreck I was in involving the suspension. My problem is Acura won't fix because of the title of the vehicle, and want $6500 to put another one in, so I went to get it rebuilt for $1900 with a 12,000 mile warranty and updated parts. Seemed like a good deal for the money. After Acura sent them 2 wrong tranny kits to fix and 2 calls to 2 different supervisors at Acura they tell me that they will not supply the tranny kits to anyone but Acura themselves b/c so many are having to be fixed. So a car that is a 2000 model has no parts available to fix a common problem. This is a joke. Paying $6500 for a tranny on a car worth $18,000 isn't an option and getting a used one is not worth the risk of breaking down again. Does anyone have any info how or where to get a kit to rebuild a 2000 tranny? I'm sort of stuck without a car and can't find any answers from anyone. Thanks

Is the shop doing the repairs only trying to get the parts from Courtesy in Lexington? I've never heard of Acura not selling a part to an individual because of the reason you describe. If I might ask, who are you having do the work? Have 'em give our parts dept. here at Oxmoor a call, they'll most likely get a better response.

Lexington Acura (Courtesy) will only put in a new one, or refurbished, don't know which. But I will give Oxmoor a call.

Called Oxmoor and they told me that the only thing they could get was gaskets. Possibly they could get everything I need but not in a kit. They told me probobly around $2000 for everything. How and where does a transmission shop get these parts to fix these. HELP!!!!
