I got stuck so many times today with my TL. We got about 6-8 inches and my car was horrible with traction.

My TL handled pretty good in the snow.

Just be happy you don't have RWD.

My car handled fine too. Not the best traction I can get, but it went thru some snow banks pretty good. Saw a minivan lost control on the hwy right behind me in my mirror. Scary stuff

I kinda slipped on some sand while driving to the beach today, but nothing TCS didnt handle for me, if that counts.

didnt handle nearly as well as my girls pathfinder, but not bad considering what it is.

never really got stuck, spun the wheels a few times, but that comes with the territory.

overall, i was impressed with how my baby handled her first snow storm

had to travel thru every boro last night for the Xmas rounds. Handled great!

On the Sprain Brook Pkwy around 9:30 I was the leading car for a good 15 miles back to Westchester.

Of course I kept it in SS mode all the way.

No complaints here at all.

I guess you meant in the East Coast. The storm we had here are heavy rain, 90 mph wind, and sometimes flood, so the TL handles great. It does tend to move side to side on the bridge though.

I've had my TL in the snow a few times. Never a problem. The ABS seems to kick in sooner than expected sometimes so maybe the tires are really sensitive to slippery stuff.

I LOVE MY CAR!
I'm glad I spent every single cent that I did on her!!

Upgraded tires handled beautifully in snow!
VSA helped incredibly!
Side-view mirror defrosters worked SO well!
4 HIDs does wonders for visabliity!
And where there were no roads plowed, I navigated by the Navi and it never failed!

I had no problems either. I just took it slow and the car plowed it's way along. The wheels gave every once in a while but nothing unmanagable. I expected it though since I'm still running the stock tires. All in all I give it an "A".

I saw some cars sliding all over the road last night. Audi A4's, Honda Accords, Saturns, Mitsubishi Eclipses, even saw a Ford Explorer spin out. I'm really starting to think it's not the cars that suck in the snow but the idiots behind the wheels...

Speaking of cars sliding, I was up at Tahoe and cars like Talon AWD and A4 AWD were sliding all over the place and the Talon actually hitted a bus. I then noticed the Talon had high performance summer tires on.......what an idiot.

I agree with you Sly. I went to college in Buffalo and really honed my snow driving skills there. (took my road test in on a normal (aka bad) snow day.)
I can't tell you how many idiots tried to pass me going 50+ mph only to slow down for fear of spinning out, only to end up following in my triacks like that Jaguar commercial. : )

I actually left my TL at home and drove around in my AWD talon with no problems at all, hardly any sliding.... even with my "summer tires" I never got a chance to get some all season tires on my stock rims, but as long as you don't speed or do anything dumb like most SUV drivers in the snow you're fine with AWD.

AWD rules, but then I had to drive my friend with a 325 to his house too. I guess that RWD "ultimate handling car" won't get you home in the snow.

Well, I am glad to hear that no one had to drive like I did in this storm. I woke up Christmas morning, and started to drive to NJ so my girlfirend and I could see her family. Ok, driving from Albany, NY to the Highlands, NJ was horrible. I slide about 20 times on the Thruway, and then a little in northern jersey. thank god i just put on some Potenza's, or I would have been in the ditch like the other 25 cars I saw!!

We had between 8 and 10 inches...it handled TERRIBLE.

TCS worked going up hills, but I got stuck a few times.

The worst time was in the parking lot of my friend's apartment complex. Took me 10 minutes of rocking between D/R...and since TCS was off, you could smell the burning rubber.

Next time I'll just take the Durango with 4WD. The TL seems more like a car which handles better without a foot of snow on the ground.

Made the normal Christmas rounds across the 5 boroughs the past few days and the TL handled GREAT. I was so happy with the way it gripped the road (snow). I live in the bronx and my girlfriend lives in Brooklyn....I had to make the treck through the thick of the storm with NO problems. Very very happy with the performance.

no problems

i had to drive 30 miles to work the morning after the snow, and i left my house at 6am, before the most of the roads got much salt or have been plowed...and i had no problems what so ever.....with my stock tires....TCS kicked in every now and then when i needed the assist, but no problems...but you still need to know how to drive in the snow expirence helps alot....im more afraid of the salt truck spraying salt onto the car (happended once on the way home) and the idiots on the road with thier all powerful 4wd suv death boxes...

Thumbs up

You have to know how to drive!!!!!
If you own the best 4X4 and drive like an idiot, you will end up upside down in a ditch. Unfortunately, what usually happens is that all the idiots create accidents for the rest of us.

Heres a good example of some justice...
I drive to Oakville when I travel to the office and could write a book about the stories on Hwy. 401 that I have seen. Last winter, saw a Ford Explorer spin out in heavy snow and hit the concrete median. He then hit another vehicle. The guy was driving like an absolute idiot. The guy he hit, stopped his car, got out; went to the Explorer's driver's side door; (I thought he went to see if he was O.K.) and then punched the CRAP out of the guy!!! Serves him right.
I put Toyo Snowtrax winter tires on my car and drive to the conditions. Have never had a problem. I am always watching out for the idiot drivers and try to stay away from the transport trucks. They cause many accidents because people loose control trying to either pass, or change lanes to stay away from these lethal raod dangers that are unable to stop in poor snow conditions.
Best advice for TL owners: If you drive in winter weather to any extent; buy some good high performance snow/ice tires. They are worth every penny and if you do a great deal of driving, will probably save your car from accidents and possibly save your life.

Thats why you need winter tires on your car. The TL will most likely handles better in the snow & ice with a set of 4 winter tires than a 4X4 with stock tires that have been on it a few years. The only advantage is the ground clearance of the SUV in deep snow. This is why it says in the owners manual to get snow tires if you are going to drive in the snow.
