Talking For those who are worried about lowering your ride

An odd fix for the "higher then the rear" stock front end........

This may be a bit odd but it was better then nothing.
Due to my driveway, I cannot lower my car with a set of real springs (i.e. H&R Sports or Comptech's), so I had to settle with H&R's OE springs. I first installed the front springs and checked out the clearance and found out my (exhaust) resonator just cleared the driveway by a 1/4" with a full tank.

Well, I couldn't install the rear springs because it would of caused the resonator to scrape. So this is what I have to settle with but by having just the front drop a little, the front and rear wheel gap with H&R OE front and stock rear looks to be even. IMO.

Since I'm not driving around at the limit of adhesion, I haven't come across any ill effects of having a different set of springs during spirited highway/street driving.

Here's a pic. I do know it would look so much better lower but I just can't

Makes me believe the H&R Oe's would make the rear look lower then the front

Lookin good Chris!

It's a shame you cant go with the Sport springs but I definitely understand your reasoning! How steep is your driveway anyway?
Is it one of those types that dip at a 45 degree angle downwards?

Thanks Rich, we'll have to have a run after you get your headers installed.

And you are correct. It is one of those driveways that dip down 45 degrees.

Tuff,
The car is looking good. I wanted to know how big those SSR's are?? I'm planning to buy rims next month and everyone is telling me to go with 19's cause 18's might look small for the car. But the roads in Queens would hurt those 19's in a hearbeat. Anyways, the car is lookin great. Maybe al the Queensdrivers can meet up sometime

Thanks guys!!!
FreDroRN, the SSR's are 18"X8", I was worried about the same problem so I went with 18's. I went one more step further to help protect the wheel by having 225/45-18's. Instead of having a 40 series sidewall, I have a taller 45 series sidewall.

Click on "PICS" below from my sig, there are a couple of close-up pics of the GT3's.

hi tuff gong,
do you still have stock shocks? if so, are they still okay? did you have to get any camber kits to adjust camber? are your tires getting any uneven wear? also, are the h&r rear springs the same as the front springs? if so, would you want to sell me your rears so i can put them on my front?

sorry for all the questions, but i'm just trying to get rid of that nasty wheel gap up front. my tires are smaller than yours and therefore there is even more wheel gap!!! new wheels are 17"s with 215/45 nitto's. i'd really appreciate your help.
thanks a lot,
peter.

Yes, I still have the stock shocks and their fine. The drop is pretty subtle IMO, maybe about an inch. Definately settled down a little after I put them on. Being that it's a subtle drop, you won't need a camber kit. My tires are wearing evenly.

The springs are different for the front and rear sao I can't help you there.

Very nice. This is just the drop I was looking for. The stock rear is fine but would be nice to have the front lower to match. It will also be cheaper to install just the front springs. Do you notice any change in handling just with the front springs? I have the Comptech sways so hopefully the thicker rear bar will help out a little. Anyone know when the H&R OEs will be back in stock. It's been on backorder for a while.

Thanks. A set of real springs would have been nicer but ahhh well.

Anyway, right after I installed the front springs I did notice it was slightly stiffer up front....but you forget about all about it in a few days as I guess we get used to it(H&R's web site mentions how much stiffer then stock the springs are...something like 10-15% or something...I'm not really sure. Besides, what springs are they comparing it too, the stock V6 Accord?).

Nothing really adverse at all in handling really. As I said before, I'm not driving at the limits of adhesion (not all the time at least) so it hasn't been a problem at all.

I have the Comptech sways as well and I'm content with the cars handling. Hey, it's a FWD 4dr sedan....I didn't buy it top go lapping Lime Rock or anything.

As for the OE's being out of stock...I have no idea about that one. I bought mine back in April and luckily it took just a week or so to come in.

Good luck
