For Those Who Have Modified The Suspension

I have questions for those who have modified the suspension. What did you do with your stock springs/shocks? Did you sell them? If so at what price? I have stock (TLS) springs & shocks which I want to get rid of.

Thanks for the info!

I think it's a direct swap, but I'm not sure maybe someone can explain it to us. I think TLS springs are stiffer than TLP, am I correct? Anyone?

Yes, they are a bit stiffer and yes they should be a direct swap.

Hey, you ever thought about the Titanium Strut bar? Is it worth $250?

Will you actually feel the difference over the stock strut bar?

In the past, I've spoken with the Acura dealer parts dept clerk and he said that the 99-03 TL and TL-S , shocks and springs are interchangeable. As the strut bar goes, I currently have the Neuspeed strut bar in addition to the factory strut bar and I do not notice any significant difference. I can't speak for the Comptech Titanium strut bar. Maybe someone who has them can explain. They are expensive though. Neuspeed strut brace cost about 130.00 installed. Neuspeed brace is a good quality product. No hinges and quality welding at a cheaper price than Comptech. To really feel the difference you would need the strut bar and the Comptech Sway bars, better shocks and springs than the OEM ones.

I have 03 cl-s struts on my 99 tl-p, tl and cl struts are interchangable and worth the upgrade to newer type-s struts. I did almost new cl-s struts and conptech springs, I am very happy with the ride quality..

i doubt the money spent on tls springs would be worth it....my car handled like a boat when i first got it....its probably only stiffer by allitte and not worth the moeny of install and such

I concur with gagetrol. The strut bar will provide neglible improvements to handling (by itself with no other suspension upgrades). The only way you'll notice an improvement in handling are the components gagetrol listed above, plus a lower front tie bar. I have been told that the lower tie bar in conjunction with a the upper strut bar really tightens the handling considerably (less chassis flex).

A strut bar with stock sways could actually make handling worse. (ie. more understeer)

do not sell your stock shocks and springs. if you decide to sell the car or something should happen, you can always put them back in.

I paid only $100 shipped, they were used with approx 10k on them. It does ride well though!

Cusco makes a lower front tie bar. Check your local speed shop for availability.
