For those with 235/45/17 or similar
Hey guys,
I just got my 03 Type S in SSM on Saturday and I'm absolutely loving it!
The first thing I'm going to do is get some new rubber. I've researched this tons on here and ********** and decided to go with the Sumitomo HTR+. I'm still not sure if I'm going with stock size or wider.
For those of you who have gone with the 235/45/17, is the ride stiffer? Also, how do they look if you're not lowered? I can't tell if it's going to make the gap larger or not. And lastly, please post pics of stock wheels with the 235/45/17 on them. I need to see what they look like.
Thanks everyone in advance.

You will gain a lot more performance by improving the quality of the rubber as opposed to upsizing.
The 235/45/17 will be safe but since it is slightly out of spec, the sidewall will not have an optimal flex point. What you will end up with is a tire that has more lateral grip under light cornering but is more squishy under very heavy cornering.
I originally had 245/45/17's on stock wheels but after I developed a bubble, I ended up with 215/50/17 SP 9000's which are better. (P.S. 235/45/17 is slightly smaller in diameter than 25.7 inches which is what the odometer/speedometer is calibrated to)

i compared physically the overall rolling diameter of my 235/40/18 (which should be smaller than) the stock 205/60/16
but for some reason, when the two are placed side by side, the 16s were smaller. could be that the tread has worn down. Ii doubt it cux it is not a wee bit smaller. The difference was close to 1cm!! I think that's a big difference considering the 16s should theoretically be larger, not smaller

that would be gd on a RWD car...but our car is a FWD car and shouldn't be that wide...not improving much and decrase you fuel milage...
the ideal size would be 225 and choose a gd rubber...
look for japanese tires coz they are better for FWD models.....
