Looks like you guys have a great forum here! My wife and I are seriously thinking about buying a 00-02 Acura TL. Nice car with lots of great options.

The "transmission ordeal" is news to us (even after studying Consumer Reports etc.) We live in Vancouver, Canada and may be purchasing the vehicle privately. Will Acura honor the waranty in Canada too (7 years?).

Please give us your advice on buying this vehicle.

Just do a search on 'Tranny failure' and you should get enough reading for a few days.

If you do decide to get a TL, make sure it has the manufacturers extended tranny warranty.

all 99-02 and some 03 TLs are covered to 7 years, 100,000 miles for the tranny.

you simply cant go wrong with a TL. every car has its problems, and the only problem the TL has is the little tranny thing and a few known squeaks. its a great car. enjoy!
