Things that go "thunk" in the night
I had to take a trip to Boston last week, and when I got to the airport, they didn't have any covered parking available, so I had to park on the roof. Anyway, my car was out in the 100 degree heat for 5 days straight.
I get back last night, and when I start up my car, it didn't turn over quite as quickly as usual. Then it ran a little rough for 2-3 seconds, and then I heard (and felt) a definite "clunk" - maybe from the transmission, but hard to tell.
The car has been driving fine ever since, but it kind of bothers me because I've never heard that noise before. I'm hoping it's just something weird because the car was sitting in the heat for so long, but has anyone else had anything like this happen?

If you heard & felt the "thunk" as soon as you engaged the tranny then it was the tranny. My brother's CL & my TL both do it if they have been sitting for a while, especially if it's on a hill (like a driveway.) I found that if you set the parking brake before you let go of the brake when parking it doesn't happen.
