Angry Theft and Vandalism

I’m curious about the deterrent effect of the factory anti-theft system. How many of you have had (or know someone who has had) his TL broken into or stolen?

Don't know anyone personally with their TL stolen, but I'd imagine it is a popular car for attack, at least in NJ.

Several members have reported vandalism, and many recommend an after-market alarm. I think Clifford was preferred on this forum. The factory alarm does not provide coverage for glass breakage nor does it have a motion sensor. I don't think you need to worry so much about someone stealing your car as opposed to someone vandalizing it, since the factory provides for an engine immobolizer.

But even with the best after-market alarm, your car is toast if someone wants to vandalize it. It's nice that your alarm is ringing after they smash your windshield, but in the end, you still have a broken windshield.

I suggest exercising good judgment as to where you park, and buy a visual deterrent like a club.
