Techie Questions: Cold Air Intake
Been hearing a lot about Cold Air Intakes.
Do they significantly improve horsepower/performance?
Are they a pretty easy bolt-on, or do you have to be or need a mechanic?
I've also seen mention of a couple types/brands. Any insight as to what's the best/worst?
Thanks!

They do provide a significant gain in HP. I and a lot of others on this board believe that it is one of the best buys for your money. comared to say headers or the SC. they are not THAT difficult to put on. Most on here will suggest that you remove the front bumper which will overall make it easier for you. or you can go the route of keeping the bumper on, which is hard and it will take you longer, and you will get frustrated. AEM is the most talked about. stay away from the foam filteres.. you can pretty much see through those. another option if money isn't an issue is the comptech ice box. i have heard wonderful things about those. haven't seen one on a car yet.. i adivse you do a search, you'll find answers to all of your questions

It's realatively easy to put on...perhaps 2 hours at most.
I would recommend holding out for the Comtpech Ice Box. The tq is rumored to be better than the CAIs. And with the design of the Ice Box, it will be much easier to change and clean the filters.

I dunno about the torque being higher... but one bonus comes when the car gets inspected... the icebox looks very stock, so you won't need to answer any carb questions.
