Question Tanny failures using manual/shift gate

I'm wondering how many of you folks that have had tranny failures used the maunal shift mode/shift gate verses leaving it in D5 or SS?

Used the "Manual" mode maybe 3% of the time, TOPS!

Have NEVER used it on the second tranny.

I don't hink this has anything to do with the failures.

Yeah... I have to admit.. I drove my car pretty darn hard when I had the first tranny in there... So if anything .. I can sorta understand that I had something to do w/the failure... however, if anything, I only allowed what was going to happen eventually happen a little earlier...

I used the manual shift mode... i agree w/ jon.. don't think it mattered whether or not you used it.. My service tech told me himself.. you should be able to drive the HELL out of an acura and NOT expect anything to happen to the transmission.

I'm not sure there's any connection either, but leaving it in Auto mode is showing more failures according to the Poll out on the CL Forum.

Of course that really doesn't prove anything as there are very likely more Auto mode drivers than SS or Shift Gate drivers.

I personally used SS mode 3 times, hate it, and use Shift Gate almost 99% of the time. I only use D4 or D5 when crusing on the highway.

I've had my TLS in March 2001, so well see if it ends up failing or what. The only thing that has failed so far is my front tires. They are going bald for some reason.

My tranny blew at 4800

Miles and I never used the manual, I did use the SS a lot mainly to down shift.
