Taillight question - help!

I have a 2000 3.2 TL,
The taillights in the 2000 model have the yellow on top. I want to replace it with the newer style (red and clear on top w/o yellow) but the parts people at Acura can't tell me if they will fit. I've seen some OEM (a bit cheaper) online in sites like autocarparts.com or topend.com (as well as here) but I don't know if they are "like" the real ones quality-wise.

Can anyone help me? I want to know if they fit and where to get the best deal on a pair of taillights.

Thanks!

The OEM ones (like on this site) will fit, you'll just need a wiring harness. The non-OEM ones (the cheap ones you find on ebay) don't need this. So yes, they'll fit.

The ones on ebay being sold by matrixracing and procarspart are good quality. They don't require a new wiring harness, you just remove the old tails and replace it. They go for around 190 dollars shipped.

The OEM 02+ TL tails would require a wiring harness because they changed the turn sig bulb from 7440 bulb to 1156. or you can just electric tape the turn sig bulb in the bigger socket. Call 1888RAYLAKS to order the OEM for $300, this includes the wiring harness and is the cheapest price I seen.

Either way, you can't lose.

I must be dumb, but I don't understand why people are willing to go through the taillight change trouble just to have a small portion of it clear instead of orange. It doesn't improve anything a bit, and you can't even see them! Personaly, I think orange looks better… I suspect that if earlier models had clear directional lights and later ones - orange, people would be still changing them anyway....

I have a 2000 TL and had the old tailights removed about a year ago and I can personally tell you it makes a the rear end look a lot cleaner. After seeing some other tl's pre '02 with them I couldn't wait to geth them so I bought them from matrixracing and the quality of them is as good as the oem ones.
