Many people have said that the 9006 SilverStars are 55w as compared to the 51w Stanley bulb in the fog lights. Why is it that behind the SilverStar bulb itself, it says 51w, but when I go to Sylvania's website, it says 60w max?

Silverstars are 60W for 9006 fogs, as opposed to the stock 51W.
Silverstars are 60W for 9005 hi-beams, as opposed to 55W stock.

 

Then why does it say 51w on the back of the SilverStars that I bought?

 

Strange. Mine said 60W.

 

I have two pairs of 9006 SilverStars and they both say 51w on the back. I've also noticed that the bluish/purple coating on the SilverStars is different. My first pair, I bought in January 2002 which was about a month after it was released. The coating on the bulb is much lighter than the new pair of SilverStars that I purchased two months ago. I was curious about the "whiteness" so I installed the old pair of SilverStars on one side and the newer pair of SilverStars on the other side and the newer pair is much whiter than the older pair. However, there seems to be more light output from the older pair of SilverStars. I'm guessing Sylvania probably updated the Silverstars overtime.
