Hey, what a great idea. You've got my mind thinking now. How about hiding your radar detector controls in your "not an" ashtray... hmm.

With this remote I can control the V1 on/off, change computer modes and adjust regular and muted volumes without moving my arm from the armrest. I have the V1 Concealed Display on the steering column too. Now I never have to reach up and mess with the V1 main unit.

TL Daddy, very cool, and clean install. is there a "james bond ejector switch"? LOL, i don't think i could give up my cup holder though...question? can you still flip the plastic doors shut to conceal the switches?, and where have you hard mounted your valentine 1. i have been wanting to do that, but with tinted windows and the wrong placement, i was told you can lose range on the rear detector mode. still suctioned to the windshield :-( thanks, kman156

Good job TL Daddy. I had my MP3 wired remote and switches mounted just like that in the cup holder (I had it painted black to match the black plastic in the cup holder), but I missed not having the cup holder so now its dash mounted...

I hear you guys with the cupholders - but you know the holders on the '99s suck!!! Water bottles and Starbucks cups always tipping - so now I just gotta hold it

Thanks kman - yes the doors still close - that's what makes it so cool, IMO.

I have the V1 at the top of the windshield on the driver's side suctioned like you. It's hard-wired though I would like to permanently mount it somewhere but not sure where. Any ideas?

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to disconnect the sensors from the radar detectors and place it in a low-profile "pod" pasted to the top of the windshield or something...

Hmm, maybe a little plastic pod which holds your radar detector onto your ceiling...

Hey, what about mounting your detector on the REAR window? You already have the remote display up front... maybe there's a way to mount it on the parcel shelf. I hate the dangly wires that come with radar detectors.

TL Daddy, you're right the cup holders in the 99's suck , i use mine to hold small firearms!!!!! LOL, and wedge my water bottles between the passenger seat and console on a slant. as far as the perm mount on the V1, a buddy of mine has his mounted in his conv beamer on the passenger side windsheild , upper right hand corner, with hard wire, and concealed display on steering column. It's nice! our problem is we have the back windsheild antenna built into the upper part of window, plus tinting. i'm not sure that's a good spot for us? too much interference? maybe we should contact valentine and ask them.or maybe one of our members might have or know a good spot to suggest? peace...kman156

Jake,
Very very nice. I hope to be able to check it out in person.

So, what lighting do the switches control anyway? There are 6 button, do they all do something? Pics?

Thanks Pimpin_TL! It turned out better than I thought since I'm a novice installer.

Yeah the bottom middle one is a little off center Oh well - time to get the Dremel out again and "adjust" it. I have a big sheet of burlwood so I can make 10 of those - plus have enough leftover for a faceplate when I get a new h/u

Thanks Edub! I'm really going to try and make the 6/10 meet.
Only 4 switches hooked up to accesories right now - although all the switches have power and ground so they all light up. #1 controls my sub amp, #2 controls my spkr amp, #3 controls my front and rear blue foot lights, #4 controls my trunk lights. Just wanted 6 of them so it looks even. Plus I left lots of room at the bottom to add more stuff
Will take pics soon - just finishing a few more items before it's ready to roll out

Nice install! Very James Bondish! Ya I would align the buttons straighter and it would be perfect. You can always buy those clip-on cup holders from somewhere.
