Swiper - 1999 Tl **rip**
Well my car is totalled
HIT AND RUN - My car was parked on the street in Chicago and at 3:30am on Sunday someone barreled into my car parked on the end with no one behind me at probably 60+ and took off.
My rear bumper was a block away. Three cars in front of me got plowed too.
Now I have to deal with insurance.
There is nothing like getting woken up at 8am by a tow truck driver at the door.
Look at my webshots link for pix.
Rims still fine but exhaust (WSII) is done.
Subs and box are done, the one amp that was not stolen that night - yeah unscrewed and stolen - is fine.
Took everything I could out, radar, nav, stereo, etc.
I am very sad because I really loved that car.
Any insurance tips before I meet the adjuster??
Nick

Yeah...
I like looking for cars, but I liked this one alot.
Insurance came back TOTALED and offered 5995. Not bad for 180k. He said it was in excellent condition
I paid 6250 with stereo a year ago with 145k.
Got receipt for rims/tires, exhaust, motor mounts replaced, new tire replaced 3 days ago, alarm and tint.
They said they will work with me on those - someone else deals with it.
The adjuster was at the yard at 10am today!!

good luck with aftermarket items. most policies cover OEM equivalent, anything after needs a sub policy(rim, navi(i learned the hard way here))
like if you have like rotora brakes, they wont give you extra for that enless it was insured that way. other wise you get tthe value of oem style ones. etc

Yeah I keep looking at Caddy, Merce, BMW, I keep coming back to my same car though. I like it too much, and I still have headers for it in the box.

Probably some idiot. It's a miracle he managed to drive away. Had to be driving some old ass truck or car if it was still driveable after that. I hope they find him so you can .

I would steer clear of Audi's unless you get a warranty. I have had a few in the past (S4, 5000's) and they are not cheap when it comes to repairs. For a daily driver or something that you need to get you from point A to point B consistently stick with Toyota/Lexus or Honda/Acura.
Good luck with your hunt to find a new ride.

He wasn't going anywhere near 60. No car would have driven away from that at 60. Even if that were possible, the driver wouldnt be in any condition to drive. probably 30ish. just consider that he didnt hit your car in the center, he hit it off to the side where its MUCH weaker. I'm suprised the noise didnt wake you or anyone up....
And uhm...did none of those cars involved have any kind of alarm? Either way...
DAMN....

My car had an alarm but I live 2 blocks away. One person kinda saw who did it but it was an old man and he did not get plate.
Older truck with metal bumper, no way 30mph does that. He pushed my car 15 feet forward into 3-4 other cars.
