Superwhite Foglights?
I have a 2002 TL-S and I'm looking to replace my factory fog lights with superwhites. Do I have to replace the entire light system, or can I just replace the bulbs with the superwhites? Could you point me in the right direction (location of where I can make the purchase and part # would be very benifitial)
thank you!
thank you!

Would you happen to have pictures of those foglights when lid? I've been trying to find some foglights that would have a good match with our HID headlights and so far nothing satisfactory. Where did you buy them from?

What bulbs have you tried so far? I heard some positive comment about SilverStar on this site.

yeah, PIAA superwhites suck.. the only reason i'm using them is because they were the headlight bulbs on my last car. at least they last a long time... (almost 3 years now)

Smiity,
Pull one of the bulbs and you will find they are Stanley HB4 12V 51w. I put the Silvania 9006ST set in mine which run at 55W with no probs whatsoever.
Cheers

PiAA Plasmas
I have the Plasmas and after they heat up I think they look almost perfect. I think I paid $110 but I'm not to sure. I bought them in July and they have been great. I know a lot of others had them but I'm not sure if any new ones came out. They are so easy to replace as well.

The problem I found was that, our HIDs are not actually white. They have a blue hue that's very hard to match with conventional bulbs. So, even if the fogs are white, they'll still have a hard time matching with our "blue" HIDs. But it sounds like you are very satisfied with your fogs. I'll look into them. Price seems to be quite reasonable too. I'm just awaiting for 03TYPES's email pic to make my final decision.

I've found that the darker it is, the less blue our OEM heads look. During daylight, they look more blue.

I notice by your name that might own a CL-S. The CL-S uses a much lower wattage bulb than the new TL. The 02-03 TL uses a 51W - 55W 9006 bulb.

The plasmas are great but if you want the best bang for the buck go with the PIAA superwhites from this site... they are cheap, last forever, and once they warm up look pretty close to our HIDs from about 20 feet away

All I can say is IMHO I think the Silverstars are a very close match for the HIDs. I had my wife drive my car last night, following me as I drove her car. I wanted to see what my lights looked like from another car. Anywhere from 3 car lengths to 40 car lengths away, the fogs and HIDs look identical when you look at the car straight on (or close to it). The only time I could really notice a color difference was when we would turn onto a side street. Since I turned first, I'd be looking back at the side of my car before it turned down the street. From angles greater than, say, 45 degrees off center I could see that the HIDs were whiter/bluer than the Silverstars. But as soon as she made the turn the lights looked the same again.
And more importantly (to me anyway), they perform better than the stock bulbs too. Better illumination all the way around.

Our high-beams are 9005 and the fogs are 9006. Those are industry standard replacement numbers. I'm not sure what Osram/Sylvania uses as their own part number, but the two numbers above are prominently displayed on the packaging so you know which ones to get. I think they have an "ST" at the end of the number too, but it works fine. Expect to pay around $50 per pair.

I took your advice and bought the silverstars I can see a differance but I dont think that they are that great. Mine are still pretty yellow.
But I must say there was some improvemnt over stock.
