Supercharger options??

Anyone know of any good supercharger kits that are available for these cars?

260hp just won't cut it for me once I take delivery. 2hp here and there from intakes and exhausts just isn't my style.

Question 2: Seems these cars have been having some tranny reliability issues. Do you think that can run another 100hp? It's not sounding that way.

Ideas?

100hp is impossible...maybe another 30 for a supercharger...

comtech just had a supercharger out for all J-series engines...
J30, J32A and J32A2...that's type S engine...

Damn... you guys sure are hostile around here.

I am used to taking vehicles and being able to squeeze an extra 100 ponnies out of 'em (sans motorcycles of course) pretty reliably.

Guess I'll just leave my old man car alone then.

Like folks said before, run a search on Supercharger and you will find all the info you need.

Folks here are just tired of repeating stuff that have been talked about for the past 2 years...so do us all a favor, run a search.

As for adding 100hp to the TL-S. It's certainly possible. But the question is how much money do you want to spend?

Let's look at the Numbers.

1) Comptech Supercharger, est. $4500
2) Level 10 full tranny upgrade, $4000

Those two mods alone will cost you about 10k w/o labor. Anytime you add that much HP in a car, you'll need to beef up the tranny. Domestic or Import, it doesn't matter....you want 100 extra hp, you'd better upgrade that tranny, cuz its gonna blow up in stock form. Anyone who has done any sort of serious racing knows this.

I know a guy with the level 10 tranny upgrade with 335hp TL at the flywheel and good torque, but don't remember the number. No supercharger on this car.

Anyways his transmission just gave up the other day, I guess new tranny.

BTW the comptech supercharger will add about 90hp at the flywheel without anyother modification.

oh and the level 10 is not near $4k.

Well... know this: My '90 GSX stock ran around 190hp in stock form. I figured with a 1/4mile time in the 11.90s (@ high altitude mind you), I was sitting closer to 400+hp. Granted, it uses a manual tranny, but that was with a stock tranny set-up w/more than 200 more ponies. So, depending on what you are talking about 'anyone who has done any sort of serious racing' I would say that _several_ other cars can add 100hp easily to the stock configuration. Hence, my original question concerning the drive-train knowing that it appears to be the weak point to this car.

I'll see waht I can do then. If you say that he has added 75hp w/o the use of forced induction, I should be able to get to that 360 mark. The tranny is going to be the questionable part to the equation I just wonder how much boost you can safely run w/o running into pre-detonation on pump gas. Maybe have to look into running water injection as well.

Hmmm...

yes 75hp were added without Forced induction. The car is still N/A. The compression was raised to 11.5 : 1 which I don't think it would be sutible for adding a supercharger.

The extra horse were added with headers/intake/exhaust/cams/extrude honing/3500cc displacement/valve springs.

There 2 modifications on the work that would give you good amounts of horsepower. These are called RES and MMII. NO ETA as of today, but hopefully soon.

Thus you just can't add horse power because different reasons, this will be an example of what you can do.

RES 22hp $299
MMII 20hp $200
Headers 30hp $1k

All at the wheels, making approx 272hp at the wheels. That would be around 365hp

Happy!!!!!!!! now the transmission is another question.

Look at Stephen Papdakis's 8 second civic. back when it was running 9's it still da the STOCK TRANNY IN IT. and his civic had way more than 100 HP over stock. Trannies are stonger than you think, in a stick shift, its the clutch that you have to worry about.

First we are talking about auto transmissions, then our trannies are I believe rated at 340hp....that is the maximum they are rated for if I remember.

I'm sure that civic has a manual tranny.

Remember we are comparing power going throught basically fluid (auto) against physical contact (manual). Big difference when it comes to lot's of power.
