Sumitomo!

After 50k miles, i thought it was time to replace the original Michelins. After reading some positive reviews here on the boards about the Sumitomos, I decided to check it out. I must admit I was a bit skeptical about buying tires from a brand I've never heard of. But then I saw the price. $77/tire compared to $179/tire for the OEM tires. That was a big enough difference for me to give them a try. I bought them through Tirerack and had them mounted/balanced locally. After the first 100 miles I must say I LIKE these tires. The ride is much improved over the Michelins, the handling is tighter, and they are quieter! The treadwear rating is higher than the Michelins, but I didn't find any reviews from owners on the actual tire life. So that will need to be determined. But, for anyone looking for new tires, these may be worth checking out.

Welcome to the Sumi club. I've had them for almost 10K now and they are still going strong. Still significantly better than the stock POS Michelins. I'm surprised your original tires lasted you for so long. Sounds like you are a very conservative driver then. The Sumis will probably last even longer for you than for me since I sometimes drive like a maniac.

Hum...I had the same problem with my front driver side Sumi about 5K miles ago. But I contributed that problem to me driving over a really rough railroad crossing without slowing down. Can you recall hitting any potholes or anything? No offense, but just wanted to point that out to you.

I had them on my CL for about 25,000 miles and no problems and now on my new TLS. Had to get them, the HTR+'s.

Gives the car a real good ride and feeling.

Whoa! 5000k miles?!?!?!? That's 5 MILLION miles dude! Pretty awesome treadlife -- must be AAAAAAAAAAAAA rating. I think you must mean 5k miles or 5000 miles - not 5000k miles.

Hey Pauli thats very funny !!! But...... I just put the Sumi HTR+ in stock CL-S size on my 2003 and I think they are excellent also. Plus they are so cheap...they're almost disposable.
