Sudden excessive idle speed today!
Today I left my house as normal. My garage temp is about 35°F. As i was pulling away, slightly downhill, my foot was off the gas. I moved from D5 to S/S, in 3rd gear. I pulled it back to 2nd before the intersection, and instead of getting engine braking, the car started accelerating when it went into 2nd gear!
After the corner, I dropped it into neutral to see what the idle speed is, and it was 2000 rpm. I kept driving another block, and checked the idle speed again, and it was about 800-900 rpm, like normal.
The car couldn't have warmed up THAT much in one block, especially since it was about 10°F outside.
This is the first time I've seen idling this fast. Anyone else have this happen?
