Stongard clear bra & Light Kit installed...
Thought I'd let y'all know that the folks at Precision Car Care in Mountain View, CA did an excellent job installing the Stongard clear bra & light protection kit.
It was expensive @ $825.00, but I'm glad I did it! I still won't follow behind trucks -- but now I'll be a little less worried about the front of my car getting dinged by rocks and pebbles. (Of course, Murphy's Law states that, "... now the rock will hit me in an UN-protected area of my car.")
If anyone's deciding whether or not to get this stuff... well, count me in as another satisfied customer.
On another note.... Did I mention that Navi is a wonderful, wonderful device? I had absolutely no idea where the heck their shop was. I just keyed in the address and went where it told me! WooHoo! Did the same for the return trip. By the way... it took me home a different way than when I came!
Later,
Vincent

With my color I also didnt want to take the chance of a poor color match with a repaint, and Im protecting my bumper, hood, head and foglights, and sideskirts from that sandblasted appearance and small scratches. W

Id prefer keeping the factory paint for as long as possible. Makes it easier when it comes time to sell the car too. No matter how good the shop a good inspection will reveal repaint, and if I see a used car repainted, I assume accident.

Around $800 (about $970 if you count the redo of my hood) with some custom work also. My hood is a custom piece that comes up higher than any precut kit would(it was redone since you last saw it at the meet). He used a subtle curve on it that he got by tracing the curve for the S4 kit. He also made a custom piece for my front lip, and both sideskirts, and side mirror bases. The rest of the car was covered by the kit for the Bumper, side mirrors, Headlights and Fogs.
If I knew then what I know know I probably could have saved at least $300 by buying the kit from the installer and going with a different kit and Custom pieces from the get go. I wasted money by buying it used off of someone. If I bought new I could have saved maybe $40-50 since the installer gets a wholesale discount. And I would NOT have gone with the X-pel kit which sux; Armor Guard & Custom is the way to go. Oh well you live you learn.

EdubTL: Yep. Got up bright and early (5:30am) and hit the road by 6:15am. The shop is located here:
Precision Car Care
2239 Old Middlefield Suite F
Mountain View, CA 94043
(650) 625-1882 (8-6pm, Tu-Sat)
And they're pretty cool. They even fed me lunch (BBQ'd burgers and Polish hotdogs). I was back on the road by 1pm. All in all, it was an interesting trip... since I was able to spend most of the time chatting with a gal who was having her car done too.
bdimc2001: Don't forget that I have more than the hood protected. My headlights, rear bumper, door handle area, front spoiler, and door edges are covered, too! I'm with Mr Hyde on this one... I wish more of my hood was covered!

If I had the choice (more like the money) Id only do the areas that can clearly be seen from the front of the car. The rest of the car looks great....but the front bumper, body kit, side mirrors and hood is all chiped away.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I mainly wanted the front-facing items protected... the other areas (door handles, trunk, door edges) were just a bonus.
But what the heck are you talkin' about? When I look at your sig you must be rollin' in dough, my friend!
