This post got me worried about my HIDs. Has anyone located a good hood lock? Or better yet, has anyone determined how to tie a hood switch into the factory TL alarm?
My other car is a 2001 Odyssey EX. Its hood is tied into the factory alarm (like our TL should be). I'm going to review the Helm manual and see how its hood switch is wired into the alarm.

Sorry about the bad news. So how much is it going to cost you for the new headlight?

Not so sure a hood lock would help. A law enforcemnt friend of mine said the last couple of TLs they looked at with stolen HIDs had the front bumper cover bent down. Apparently, the perps just jump up and down on the front cover to rip it free, then have access to the hood latch and light assemblies. Not only do they get your lights, but they rip out the mounting holes on the top of the bumper cover making it necessary to replace or repair it too!

Is there a way to put a sensor on the bumper???
Is there such a thing available?
Can we use the mercury swtich that they have for the hood and place them on the bumper?
so when they step on it the mercury will move and set the alarm off.
Think it may work. what do you think?

Headlight plastic parts are made and assembled in London, Ohio. HID unit is made by Stanley in Japan.

Here's an update on my stolen headlight assembly. The HID ballast is made in Japan and there is a backorder of three to five weeks. The HID ballast was ordered on March 27th and arrived a few days ago but not after almost daily phone calls to Acura Customer service in an attempt to get me near the top of the wait list. A hood lock or alarm may not be of benefit since as mentioned earlier in this thread the headlight assembly can be removed by bending the front bumper cover. The total cost of repairs is around $3400. I still love my TL but wonder what I will do if this happens again. Being without my car for one month has been torture.
