stock tires suck!!!!
6 months ago blew out my front drivers side tire and last night blew out the front passenger tire...those michelins suck!!!! some stupid pothole...it was dark and didnt see it....tire looks like it was shot by a shotgun.
i replaced the first one with a yokohama, and the second one tomorrow. i noticed more road noise with them but otherwise no problem!!!
damn snow and salt in nyc has caused these roads to breakup!!!
any other tires recommended???

not only do those michelins suck, but they are so damn expensive, here in stamfor, ct i know what you mean about those tires. i have two bubbles on my sidewalls.
i looked at tirerack and Sumitomo makes a tire for a OE replacement that has really good reviews according to the people who posted there. Plus they are around $75 a piece. The stock micheleins are like $150 on that site, seems like a value. Buy 8 sumitomo and it is the same price as 4 michelins! a spare for each wheel! but then you have to find somewhere to mount and balance. but definitely look into it.

I have a brand new set of 215 Bridgestone Turanza's on mine. I love them. 200 bucks a pop makes it kinda expensive though. Although I only paid for 2 because insurance covered the other 2 that blew out in my accident.

Yeah they sure do suck. I can't wait to replace mine but they last so goddamn long.
I think I am going to get the Bridgestone Turanzas, but they put them on the new '04's and I have heard stories of dealers replacing them with Michelins because of problems. So now I don't know. I am also considering the Falkens.
Its hard to find a tire to fit the 16 inch wheel too. Seems like everyone either has 15s or 17s.

I love my Dunlops that I have... they are the stock size, but they have rim guard on them that actually makes the tread a little wider...

V- rated tires and higher seem to cost an arm and a leg.

V's are rated to 149 MPH, while the H's are rated to 130 MPH.
I rarely take my car over 95; so I couldn't justify spending the extra $$$ on the V's. There are no laws requiring you to use any particular speed rating when you replace your tires; the manufacturers, for obvious reasons, need to put tires that match the cars top speed.
Some members say that the higher the speed rating, the better the tire feels (ex: Turanza LS-V feels better than LS-H), but I couldn't tell you first-hand.
