Read your manual. If a short person sits in the front passenger seat, or if a normal sized person slouches forward, the light will go on because sensors are detecting that the airbag would cause more harm if it deployed. In this case, the warning is a good one. Just tell your passenger to sit back and relax and the light will go off.

There was a recall on this , it's the front buckle sensor, it's faulty, ake it to the dealer and have them replace it, thats what it was on mine, i had the same problem, actually they had to replace it twice!!

Ya I aggree with Fred3113. I had the same problem so I took it back to the dealer and they fixed it. I also agree that when someone is sitting in the passenger seat and leans on the armrest the light will go off. That is if they are really putting preasure on it.

I just turn my car into the dealer today because the "SRS" light is on. And the dealer is going to replace my sensors on the passenger seats and they told me don't put stuff on my passenger seat. and I told them when the lights turns on, There was nothing on the passenger seat. I have to put my car in dealer for three days and got a Integra LS 4DR for loan car..

A few months ago my SRS light came on. I went to the dealer, they replaced both the driver and passenger seat belt buckles. They had to take out the seats and everything to fix it. It took them about 3 hours. Ever since then all has been good. This was back in Feb. 2001. It's probably the same problem with you. The new belt buckles don't make noise either, which is cool! The old ones squeaked.
