Question Squeak from rear Comptech sway bar

Anyone know what the problem may be? Rear sway squeaks whenever the car is in slow emotion and whenever I make a short punch on the accelerator from a stop. Is this normal?

I think I read something about having to install some sort of teflon tape on the parts that have the ability to flex, and/or installing some rubberized piece which will stop the squeaking.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I may be mixing this up with the comptech springs.

I think you're suppose to wrap some teflon tape around the bar where it comes in contact with the rubber bushing. From what I recall reading, the rear sways use rubber bushings while the fronts are poly.

just apply teflon tape around the plastic bushings that replace the rubber stock bushings provided by the after market sways. my comptech sways provided me a roll. no squeeks for me.

You've got it mixed up. The front bar is re-using the original oem soft rubber bushings, and the rear one is using the Comptech-supplied red-coloured hard polyurethane bushings.

Since polyurethane has a tendency to "grab" things due to friction, when the car is speeding up or slowing down or going through corners, the metal sway bar rubs against the "grabbing" surface inside the poly bushings and makes squeaking noise.

The solution is to either wrap slick teflon tape or apply lots of lubricating grease around the contact surfaces. If the bar can move freely inside the poly bushings, everything becomes quiet.

How long ago did you install the sways? I've had mine on for about a year now and noticed last week that the rears were starting to creek. I spayed some Teflon around the bushings as a temp fix.

We just got back from a 1500 mile road trip(Boston-Harrisburg-Cleveland-Boston) with no squeaks.

When I installed them I wrapped the h**l out of the bars with Teflon tape, but I suspect it wears over time. No biggie, I'll just pull the bushings off and re-wrap the bars with more tape.
