Which Springs?
I want to get lowering springs... but I don't want the ride to be too harsh... just a little firmer.
Also, I would like to accomplish the drop w/o needing camber kits and compromising the longevity of my tires. Are ther any spings that will accomplish this?
What else should I be considering when performing this mod?
Regards,
Matt

Loving my 08 TLS!
The tirewear is the same compared to the stock springs. The ride is stiff but still comfortable. The bodykit is fine with the comptech springs. Just becareful when going up ramps. The HR sports drop a little more. 1.75" all around where the comptechs 1.5" front and 1.25" rear.

I have the comptech springs as well, and the ride is great. It's definately stiffer than the stocks, but not harsh. The drop isn't so low that you scrape on stuff either. I haven't scraped my front end yet...but I don't have a body kit so maybe that's why.

i decided on the comptech springs. Levels out the ride, i think they improve the ride quality of the car not harsh at all. it's just the right amount of drive, but be carefull or you'll scratch the front in parking lots, just need to be carefull when pulling in. As for tire wear, you do have to watch for pot holes a bit more as the travel of the suspention is not as much and I got a bubble in one of my tires from a pot hole, you hit the bump stop much faster.
The biggest reason I went with the comptech is that honda acutaly makes them so no warranty problems

Most people go with Comptech or H&R sports. I have the H&R sports in my TLS, and I love them. They drop the car slightly more than the Comptech and give you a level look versus the comptech's raked look. Plus, the H&R sports are $100 cheaper than the comptech..something to think about.

I'v seen both and have driven in 2 tl's with both of the drops and i gotta say i like the H&R springs better. It feels better and for a $100 less then the comptechs u cant go wrong!

Comptech/Honda/Acura are all actually cousin companies so to speak. I had my friend who owns a shop call Park Ave. to see what price they would offer a shop... They wouldn't go lower than $275. A royal ripoff as the rest of the Comptech products.
What are the differences quality wise between the H&R and Comptech springs if any? As far as warranty issues with Acura using H&R vs. Comptech... I don't see any impact... lowered is lowered right?
Is a camber kit necessary with the H&R springs due to the lower drop?
Regards,
Matt

As for quality, I might get flamed, but the H&R are better. Better technology (linear/progressive -vs- just linear?), and at least we know who makes the H&R's (German, ISO, etc...). No camber needed for either Comptech or the H&R's.

Don't Believe the Hype!
Don't believe the hype, get off the pipe, and get the H&R's. They make the car look better, they are better made, and they cost a whole lot less. That's my opinon.

I got my comptech springs and tokico illuminas from this site for a total of 715 shipped....I couldn't be happier. You could cut the price down by getting the H&R springs, as they are less than half the price of the comptechs, but I like the drop the comptechs give better

Does anyone have a picture of the H&R springs or Comptech springs with the factory rims? I am concerned that if I lower the car.. the factory rims will look lost in the wheel opening... you know what I mean?
Any pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Get Comptech if you don't want your car to be too low and you just want to get rid of the wheel gap. I just had mine put on a few days ago and I'm totally satisfied. The drop is just right and to be honest I haven't really notice any harshness, then again most of the road around me are nicely paved.
As for pics, I'll take some when I get the chance but if you search around there are many members with comptech and H&R springs. Just search the gallery and you should fine all different pics.
