Spring Install, dealer wanted $450
Please help,
I am looking for someone who knows a place or someone that is reputable that could install my comptech springs this weekend. I went to my acura dealer in Pasadena and they wanted $450. I was only hoping to pay between $100 and $200.

This install is a lot of work. I think $450 is too high, but I don't know anybody who will do them for $100 to $200. I have seen $250 but I don't know where I saw it. The dealers want $160 just to do the sways and I did those myself. Good luck

By the way most independant shops charge around 150, Parke Ave Acura charges 250 and they gave me a warranty on my stock shocks and the install. I went with them. Didnt want anyone else experimenting with my car when they removed my rear leather seats to do the install. Also dont forget that after the install you'll need an alignment

Not a Blowhole
I paid $300 to a certified Acura dealer who warranted the work, and also did the 4-wheel alignment with a free check at 10,000 miles.
I am happy with that.
Unless these guys have no Green Cards, $80 is mightly low hourly rate.

btw, I'm asian, so don't think this is racist or something, I'm pretty sure alot of us here can vouch for what i'm saying. It's just the way things are.

200 bux...the guy is still makin MONEY off me...
My sis' bf used to be a manager for a motormod shop..
He got me H&R springs for my maxima with just the cost for the springs..which was $80 dollars...and for install...he had 1 of his guys did it..and i gave the guy a $20 tip....that's it...$100 for springs...
this gives u an idea at how much the springs really are.
the retail price for H&R springs are over $200 ..that's without labor.

the reason the price is so cheap in LA area is because it's very competitive here, and it's the city for tuner cars...and there's a lot of people modifying their cars here. Most of these shops are packed with customers...so that's 1 of the reason they can sell stuffs cheap. They sell by volume.

Just do it yourself. Mechanics and even Acura mechanics don't care about your car, why should they? They just get paid to do the job, not to do 100% careful and kind job, but just to do it.
Only you (the owner) would do the best job because you actually like your car.
Borrow a compressor and ratchet and give it a shot. You'll find that it's not all that bad, but maybe a bit time consuming and requires some patience.
If you still want to go somewhere, go to Shine Street in Carson ($70-$80?). Or go to Pann Auto Salon in San Diego ($50). I never been there but my friend says they're both cheap.

Hmmm......sounds familiar.....my dealer quoted me 5 hours at $80/hour labor = $400. I posted this in another thread in here somewhere. On top of that...they wanted $329.95 for the Comptech springs (not that I would buy from them). I think I will be going with the H&R OE springs anyway due to the less lowering vs. the Comptech. I like the Comptech look, but with the bodykit and midwest snows, I think it might just turn my front spoiler into a really expensive snowplow...

I went to the dealership today and had a quoted for $759, which includes the hardware, labor, and allignment.
I have a question for everyone:
Is it true that if you get your spring done at the dealership, it will not void your warranty?
thx
David
