Sport Shift

Sport Shift
So I got my first car and it's a 2000 3.2 tl with type S wheels which look way better than stock wheels. Anyway ive been driving in D5 but I want more speed and acceleration that would come from the sport shift mode. Are there any tips or rules when using sport shift to save my tranny from wear......

Nope; Actually Using SportShift will make you Rev the Engine more = More Beat on the Tranny when shifting = More Wear.....
Stick to D5 on Highway, D4 for City.
If you got 2K on your Wallet to Rebuilt your Tranny or an AV6 Tranny laying around, Beat the Crap out of SS....

the car can out-think and outshift you on the upshift,,
redline is not max torque and best place to upshift
but if you need to be on the torque/throttle at the apex, using SS is ok for fun times
DO NOT use it to downshift at max rpm into 3 or 2 as a slowing device,,
brakes are way cheaper than a trans! and work faster
speaking of brakes- legend front calipers and better pads-rotors should be on your list
flush brake fluid now and every year if you like to drive it hard
change the atf HONDA DW1 fluid and external filter now
read last 4 pages in probs and fixes section, thread title `Main Tranny Failure..`
our weakpoint is cooling 2nd and 3rd clutches
for performance see the sub-sections for that,
remove intake resonator box, install k&n filter, install thermoblock intake manifold and TB spacer, clean TB
Run seafoam thru gas tank twice to clear old carbon buildup and restore injector spray pattern = tune up in a can
install new spark plugs, correct 8 dollar each ngk ONLY
adjust engine valves= for maximum engine power they need to be right, and by 100 there are a few in need
did the car get its 7 year or 105kmiles- timing belt /water pump service?

and www.owners.acura.com download operating manual with all trans gear/speed restrictions and other good info on ABS etc

investing $200 or so for a track day- high performance school day at your local roadrace track- is great experience, learn how to drive the TL towards its limits
