Unhappy Spilled Juice in Gear Shifter

Hey guys!

I had some apple juice spill into my gear shifter in the console about a month ago. I didn't really know how much and I didn't have any issues until it started getting colder out. Now it sticks quite severely in park. I can force it out of park and once it's moved it doesn't stick again until it's been sitting for a while in the cold. I've taken the covers and plates off around the gear shifter to clean them but this did not fix the issue. It seams to be sticking further down where i can't really see.
Is there something I can do, without causing anymore damage of course, from the inside of the car or do I need to have a mechanic look at it?

Thank in advance!
Cheers

It is very easy to remove the shifter trimming, then you clean it up the underneath. Just find a thin blade or scraper and lift the trimming out and go from there.

I've taken all the trim off already and cleaned those parts. They were very sticky but it hasn't solved the issue. It seems to be sticking further down the rabbit hole..if you will.

under the base plate are 3 microswitches that run the SS mode
Those get sticky/dirty from spill and wont work
First question I ask on shifter probs = spill anything recently?

Get a can of CRC quick dry `electrical spray contact cleaner` ~$5 at parts stores
apply liberally to areas you cant see or reach! and the things you can see of course~
iirc going thru/remove right side panel of center console for access (old memory from azine thread- ck out DIY section)

also ck the cable assembly under car for binding- there is a real shift cable mechanism there

WD-40 worked perfectly fine for me on this issue, Just spray it on the mechanism it will go away.
