A spec
How many are there of you A spec owners out there? I will be joing the club when I pick up my car next week.
As well does anyone have an idea of the number of A specs that have been sold and whether or not they were all built at the same time? I'm a little curious about how desperate the dealers will start to get to move this vehicle.

The sales on the A spec's seem strangely low. I would think for the price difference and for the number of people that seem to have added the body kit that this particular would just fly off the lot.
I can hardly wait to pick up the vehicle. After reading all the horror stories about the headlights being stolen my first mod will be to get an upgraded alarm.
I have a friend that mods Honda's (usually Civics) for a living. I'll get him to drive the car and see what he recommends I should do first on handling and power.

800, actually ...
Actually,
There are only 800 built -- in the aegean blue and midnight black. Each one sold comes with a leather jacket (numbered). For C$2000 over the Type-S, I would have definitely got it (the cost for the retail bodykit is over C$2400! ... and let's not talk about the JDM side-markers AND spoiler ... :wow: )
I've gone to 2 dealerships in Toronto ... both had none in stock. Drive down to London, ON -- they have 5 on the lot. I'm sure you can get a good price from those guys ...

I thought A-Spec is not available in US. How did you get one?

A specs are only available in Canada. You get a numbered jacket with the car approximately 4-6 weeks after the vehicle has been picked up.
I live in Toronto and see a fair number of Tl's but have only seen 2 A specs anywhere other than on the dealer lot. Considering it is only marginally more expensive than a TL S I would have thought that the allotted 800 A specs would have been almost sold out by now. When I get my jacket I will see what number I am of the 800.
I should be picking the car up on Thursday after which I will post pics.

I just picked up an A Spec in Regina, where the dealer had two midnight black models left. Was able to negotiate a pretty good deal, my impression is that they are anxious to move the last memories of 2003 - and the end of the model line - off the lot, even if it means selling the A Spec at TL-S prices. I'm happy to have a Made-For-Canada only car, and hey, I'll take the jacket!
I saw a pic of the 2004 TL-S ... (think TSX)... and while it's gorgeous, I couldn't tell the difference between it and a Maxima or Altima or G35. Also, I'm told the S-Type package is not avail. in 2004, as the base model is getting a performance tweak. I was a bit worried about buying right at the end of a model line, but the price couldn't be beat. Dollar for dollar, the TL-S A Spec blows away 330i and A4. And we have a one-of-a-kind set of wheels!

I got the A-Spec ...!
Hi!
I went to Terrace Gate Acura Dealer and bought the Aspec (blue) in April 2003.
I asked the dealer, he said only 800 were build and "none" (he quotes ... from his experience) of those has crossed the US borders. Similar to EL not being in US.
So, I am one of the owner of Acura 2003 TL-Aspec ... and I got a leather jacket ...
My ASPEC is on a lease agreement, and perhaps I'll think into the 2004 TL if I like it.
I heard from various of sources it is going up against 2003 Honda Accord.
2004 TL Specs:
V-8 (Acura making V-8's ... it is surprising....), 310 HP, DVD-Multi-Channel, Blue-Tooth Network, S.C.S (Side Camera System) ... no need for side mirrors ...
Manual / Automatic / Sport-Sequential Shift are the base models.
No details on Skirt / Aero packages as of yet.
Estimated Price is $ 48, 100 CAD for the "basic" model of 2004 TL.

Karthigan the dealer gave you wrong info..
There is no V8 TL coming out
I WISH
Almost everyone knows Honda doesn't like making V8's and if they did, the RL would be the first..
TThe only thing being debated now is if VTM-4(AWD) will be on the new TL..
That Dealer was just guessing so he could seem smart..
Also the SCS u said, is so Illegal and not approved by Gov't so there would be no way we would get that until the law passed it..

Surprised Me!
Yeah...
It surprised me too....V8 come on.... Acura , even Honda doesn't have anything above V-6 .... So, I quoted in brackets that Acura making V-8's.....
I didn't know that S.C.S [Side-Camera-System] was illegal ... how does that work anyway, inside the car, there are LCD's screens or something .... because it'll be confusing for the driver to focus....It is also illegal in Canada? or just the US? I don't know for sure if the Europe areas have them....
The DVD system will be included on the 2004 TL models along with the Blue-Tooth Network System.
One more question....TL is the competitor for Honda Accord 2003, right? Since RL is in its own class...classified as Lux.
Oh well, whatever the plans for the 2004 TL, Acura wants to "kick-ass" Honda-Accord 2003 ...
We'll c... in fall of 2003.

I didn't mean SCS was illegal, but I mean that like its not approved by the U.S. Gov't yet.. Its too new for the roads, so it has to go through various tests and stuff to get approved, and I dont think Acura all of a sudden will just get a new technology like that on the market..
TL is not the competitor for 2003 Accord, They are in different leagues.. The Accord is a family sedan while a TL is a Sporty Luxury Sedan..
The TL is similar to the accord, as its usually built on the same frame..
The SCS sort of works like you said... But no one really knows.. I would guess there are 1 or 2 LCD's in the car that let u see behind through the camera's.. The Technology is WAAAYYY TOO NEW for the normal user to get used to..

Posted some pics of my brand spankin' new TL-S A Spec. You can see them in the Gallery. Owned it one day and already am in total awe of the package.
For any Canadian Acura owners thinking of waiting for the 2004 TL's, race down to your dealer and see the A Spec. They are being heavily discounted and are excellent value IMO. Aegean blue might be hard to find, but as you can see in the pics, Midnight Black is not too shabby.
Let me know what you think of my A Spec - also, my first Acura!
