So there I was

I had parked at Wal-Mart to go buy some crap and when I came out I got in my car and started it..... and that's when it happened. The car started idleing funny and then it shut off. What the hell is going on . I started it again and it did it again, and again, and again. Then the last time I started and revved it up pretty high, which made it stop, but still what the hell causes something like that . I have seen people on here posting how there engine acts up but I didn't think I woulf have that problem........ I guess I joined the club huh?

No check engine light, and I'm not sure what a CEL is. I don't think it's IAC...... reason being, it's not consistent. It will be fine for a few days then it will do it again. Could it be anything else?

CEL means check engine light...... and for ur problem, mine does it everythime a restart my car i lil while after running it. its really annoying, when it does happen i keep the rps up to about 2000. usually if its stalling and u make the rpms go up too high the TCS and CEL will come on. most people say its a dirty intake manifold

Winter gas formulas in warm weather can cause the TL to have heat soak problems. I read this on an Acura bulletin once. It still sounds like the IAC, though.

u can clean the intake manifold and everything else by goin to a express lube place and they have a kit to do it with.. should cost around 50 bucks to get it done...

Many moons ago people were throwing around the term "vapor lock" when describing that.

I had this happen a few weeks back...when it was frigid in NYC. My 02 TLS didn't startup...the engine just kicked a few times...then nothing. I resorted (by reflex) to the old carburator trick of stepping on the gas and turning the ignition. The car started up, and never had the problem again. I was thinking that it could be the battery, but since then, the battery worked just fine.

Is this the vapor lock? What is an IAC?

IAC is Idle Air Control. Common problem, search around the forum.
