so i did a 0-60 tonight

today i got a bit cocky after i found out my transmission is in good shape and really pushed the car on my way back from the cottage (its getting cold and i had to clean it up for winter).

so did a 0-60 test and it was pretty impressive 6.89s for the car's age. also i pulled 11.2L/100km or 21.5mpg pretty good considering i floored it so much.

oh here is the video

I really don't see your TL pulling that number unless it's a type-s in really good running condition on 17s or lighter weight wheels. It is quick, but it appears to take more like 8 seconds to reach 96kph or 60mph.

its a lot of mass to get in motion--- but once in motion it goes faster at a quicker rate~
60-100-120mph arrive fast!

that's quite impossible seeing as my uncompressed video is 8 seconds long it self. i can send it to you. here is shots of time calculation using adobe media encoder:

1.11s car launches:

8.14s car hits just under 100km/h or 60mph

using a time calc 6.89s

Cheers for posting that info. Good on ya. I am however still slightly baffled. A base TL is not supposed to run below 7 stock. Is your car modified in any way? I suppose I shouldn't have made the assumption that it's stock, but you never listed any potential modifications.

yep you guessed it right it's bone stock and lady driven its whole life, which is a shame. There is nohing different since the day it was bought just new rear brakes and still has the 16in wheels.

it looks exactly like this still excuse the fact that my skinny self ruined the pic but yea there is a track near where i live i might mod the sh*t out of this car when i get some time next summer and race it to the ground. w/37psi front and 32 rear i can actually produce slight oversteer ;p

Interesting. It seems like it took about 7.5 secs in the video without all the special programs but that is not bad. Consumer Guide has the TL's 0-60 at 8.2 seconds. But I think the 02-03 should be a little faster with the changed gear ratios.

I remember 00-03 tl-p's hitting 60 in 6.7 stock. tl-s 6.2 stock. 99 tl-p are 7.2 stock. 8.2 stock is pretty damn slow, no way a tl-p is that slow. 6.89 sounds very plausible.

^ i agree lets see the 135i

iv never done a 0-60 in under 7 sec in my tl-p (7.2 sec), and thats with an intake too. before cold air intake i clocked just under 8 sec. now that i have good tires, and suspension, stiffy etd, i could prob get a much better launch and less wheel hop. also any 0-60 test iv ever done was with my old tranny which slipped and shifted slow. my new tranny shifts much better and faster, could prob improve 0-60 time, but id rather keep my new tranny shifting well and not do any 0-60 tests.

Run it hard or not, but a TL is much quicker than 8sec 0-60. I hit vtec everyday on average 5 time for over 8 years and have 210k on the original motor and it runs perfect. Honda's love to be rev'd. We have forged cranks so what's to worry about? Keep up with normal maintence and you're set.

lol i did shit load of 0-60 test with a 135i during the bmw innovation drive before i bought it. it's not the 0-60 that's impressive but more like 60-120 crazy fast but never filmed cause i hate filming and going 120 lol. but yea the engine still not broken in though...

oh and i didn't record the dyno right, i select my rdx instead of tl on the profile and the hp figures got kinda messed up ill do a run again soon and post up the dynolicious results but i can definitely do 7 flat stock. done it before...and im not sayin that wasnt 6.8 the video above proves it xD

speaking of the transmission it really pisses me off that i cannot control gears 1-2 with the tiptronic. my TL always shifts at 5900RPM first gear; that's horrible.

The 99's don't. In SS mode you can bounce off the rev limited in 1st. Makes for much better and more powerful shifts into 2nd. Gears are too tall in 99 4 speeds though which hurts.

^ gate shifting 1st will provide a faster time. but i bet its murder on the clutch packs, prob why acura programmed it to shift at a lower rpm. either for that reason or to save our shitty motor mounts from exploding.

yeah, my rental is a kia forte and gate shifting isn't even an option, you put it in D or tiptronic. probably for that reason.

My base TL with just a set of mufflers and k&n filter got into the high 14s in the 1/4. A sub 7 0-60 is very possible, especially with cooler air.

Gate shifting does NOTHING different to the clutchpacks than the SS mode or full auto.

Your speedometer looks like it's setup in km/h (which makes sense for a Canadian model) though which would be about 38mph.

On a stock TL-P with a 5 speed auto in ideal conditions, 0 to 60 mph should be around 7.0 seconds. So yes, I believe it.
