Question Snowbird with 2002 TLS Transmission Problem

I just started having transmission problems and called the dealer who confirmed this is a common problem. I am a Canadian who is currently in Florida for the winter. My question...has anyone had their car fixed outside of the country?? I'm wondering will Honda Canada cover costs and authorize Honda USA to do the work. Help!

Initially when I contacted the dealership and explained my situation they told me to contact Honda Canada to get authorization for fix...they didn't think they could do anything for me. This just happen on Friday so I have not had a chance to inquire with Honda Canada as to the procedure. I was just curious if anyone has experience a similar scenario.

Yes, its confirmed my transmission is dead. 2002 TLS with 80 kms. My warranty book clearly states that if I am outside the country and my car is not drivable I should take it to the nearest Acura dealer. Took it to a dealer in South FLA and gave him my warranty booklet. He called a few days later and said I must contact Honda Canada. I contacted Honda Canada they said its up to the US to autuorize the work. Called SFLA Acura dealer back and they said NO it is up to Canada to authorize. Called Honda Canada back and spoke to someone else and they had another such case and he would contact the SFLA dealer and would call me back on Monday with outcome. They made it very clear to me that there are NO transmission recalls for this car.
