Smile A small bit of revenge exacted

About a month or two ago I was riding down this road in my 92 maxima and this modded Celica GT-S and I had a go at it. At first I was taking him off the line(so I thought). Finally we both got pole position at the light and he just flat ran away from me. So today I'm the Type S and there is this Celica GT-S who I wasn't even paying attention to really. I just came up from behind and passed him minding my own business, then as I passed him I noticed he sped up so I couldn't merge back in front of him (so he thought!) a friend of mine taught me a trick a while back that I hate but felt like using since this guy was trying to block. He told me that if your nose is in front you have the right away. So I had a little more than nose in front and I merged in. Of course the Celica didn't like this so he got on my ass....just for a second. I just mashed the gas and was ghost. He saw how futile it was to try to keep up so he shut her down. No big deal really but it was fun none the less. I probably only hit like 90 or 100.

you are wrong that if your nose is in front you have the right of way. you are allowed to merge only if you are clear of any other cars. if your nose was in front and you merged and he didn't back off and you hit him, it would be your fault because you are the one merging and making a move, so the 'ball is in your court' to make sure you do it safely, not the other car's, whether your nose is in front or not.

but congrats nonetheless.

I think this varies from state to state (like the right-turn on red law). I'm pretty sure that in CA, the person in that's farthest ahed has right of way in a merge in situation like going from 3 to 2 lanes. This is a different story if you're turning right onto a street and you can merge into moving traffic from a yeild sign.

LOL,
When I went to traffic school some dude thought the same thing that he got the right of way but The person who is trying to merge must either speed up or slow down not the the other way around and if the person merging is most of the time is at the wrong unless he got some witness saying that the other driver was reckless.
