Silverstars Not So Good

I had some Hiper Industries bulb but one of them blew out so I switched them with the Silverstars. I hear a lot of good things about them but they look like the stock bulbs to me. Nothing like the pics people have posted. Any idea why?

because they are still DOT legal. In order for them to trully match the HID (which it will never) you need to bump up the voltage. My 9006 is 80watts and my 9005 is 100watts. Both of course are illegal (since 65 watts is maximum) but matches the stock HIDs much better than my old Sylvania bulbs.

edgalang, while you've explained why silverstars won't/can't perfectly match HID's you did not answer TLegendGS question, which is "Why the silverstars he/she tries does not look like everyone elses ?"

My guess... from your sig it looks like a you have Legend GS and so your foglight might have a different lens than the TL, or you could have just gotten a bad set of bulbs...

BTW anyone know where to get Silverstars in Toronto ??

I have some and they are whiter than stocks for sure, but not even close to the HID. If I stand way back, and only after both lights are warmed up they don't look too bad.

Actually TLS RULZ I have a TL-S its TL(egendgs) I just always liked the Legends, my first car was an 88 LS. You can get the Silverstars off this one guy on ebay. I think it was 47.99 with 10 mail in rebate. His user name is suvconcepts he will sell them to you off ebay.

Like TLS Rulz said, they are DOT legal. Do remember that blue bulbs are not legal like Hiper, Eurolites or Krypton bulbs which are bulbs that have a blue tint over the glass to emit a "whiter" beam.

You have to be careful about the after market bulbs that run higher power then stock. Usually stating 80/100 watt, which isn't always true. They state on the box input as 55watt and ouput as 80 watt; we know this isn't true because you cant get more when putting in less (law of conservation of energy/mass). What they mean to say is that it takes in 55watt and the "whiter" beam is EQUIVALENT to 80watt in color.

Howerever, there are companies that that will use higher wattage....use these bulbs with CAUTION, they can/will melt ur wire harness and ur houseing. My friends VW Getta, melted his harness...dealer wanted $210 which is CRAZY...but you can find them online for around $40

Hiper have nice whiter beam then other companies, but they have a higher "blow" rate then the other companies...my friend went through 4 pairs in one year.

you're right, they're not perfect, but they are a better alternative. tru, you have to wait until they warm up for them to look their best, but it only takes a few minutes, and this is when you do most of your driving anyway.

i think they are the best option, when you consider they are legal, from a reputable brand, and relatively cheap.

if you want a perfect match, throw down $500 for the hid's. i'll keep my silverstars for now.

There are now RAZO Premium Superwhite Zero bulbs with a temperature color rating of 4550k, this is WHITER than our HIDs. AND they look amazing.

Check for Austin's post on a-c-u-r-a-w-o-r-l-d.com. They are about the same price as the silverstars.
