My TL has 84k miles. I was changing spark plugs and was curious. I removed and bolts and plate. But was surprised to see oil inside. I am under impression that is oil cooled. Is that oil engine oil or do I need to replace it. what is the purpose of it.Thanks

Its oil and its normal.

 

thats the top cover to the intake manifold
Old gets flung there- dont sweat it

What you really need to do is keep going farther
remove the intake manifold and clean the egr port system, service the IACV and clean the TB air plate
good to do every 75kmiles

ck the diys, buy 3 cans carb cleaner and a TB to manifold gasket- any parts store
also IACV cover gasket just in case it tears- may be dealer item

 

You can install an oil catch can to eliminate the oil getting in to you intake manifold.
