Has anyone else had paint pealing off front bumpers on an '03 TL-S?? I am going to carry mine in to the dealer in a few days. I see no reason for this, no hits or marks to start.

It will peel if it was repainted and the painter didnt use a flexative primer before the top coat. You cant paint directly onto the eurothane plastic. It will not adhere since the plastic flexes. The flex additive allows the topcoat to flex rather than to flake off. If you didnt have it painted, then it was either painted before you picked the car up to dummy up some damage that occured in shipping, or it was just an off day for the robot at the factory paint station.

 

I agree. No way that should be pealing. I bet the dealer fixed up an UhOh before he sold it to you. You should look for signs of painting. You may also want to have a really good paint person look at it to see if anything else on that car has been painted.

 

Thanks for the replys. I can't see any reason to think it was repainted before I took delivery. It was there show room car. I am going back to see the service manager tomorrow. I will let you know what he says.

 

i it was there showroom car, that would exactly the kind of reason it might have been touched up before it was sold to you. Things happen even to a car that just sits, especially one that so many people poke there heads in and out of and all around. All it would have taken was a family to come into the dealship and their 7 year old kid taking a quarter from his pocked and jabbing at the bumper becuse he was board, or just because he felt like it.

Kind off a funny thought actually. I was chuckling when i wrote it, although i guess it isnt so funny to the poor guy that started this thread.... maybe i shouldnt say any more about it...:clown:
