Signed the petition after my tranny went. 18,434 miles and it was gone. According to Acura, my car didn't qualify for the 7 year 100,000 mile extended warranty when I go into the owner's link, so I incorrectly assumed this one had a newer tranmission. I guess I was wrong. I'm pissed, and wondering if I should trade it in after it gets fixed.

I have an 02 TLS. When i accelerate sometimes the tranny does a hard slip then goes. I feel it big time. Is this the beginning of the end? Did you guys experience this when your tranny went, or your D5 just went wacky.

Mine felt like it would jump from D5 to D4 momentarily over the course of the 15 months I drove it. When it went, it did feel like it was slipping extensively, but still providing power to the front wheels, but that only lasted about a mile and then it went away completely.

I'm confused
My tranny just went out at 50,000 miles and Acura actually told me that they were replacing it at no charge. I didn't even have to ask! Sorry so many other people are having bad experiences but mine has been excellent every time I've had to take it to the shop. Good luck to the rest of you.

My 1999 just went at 62,500
It started to go about a month ago, and they found metal in the tranny fluid when I brought it in last week. I should be getting the new tranny at no charge in a few weeks.
Something seems amiss in my 2003 TL-S as well. At 35 mph or so in the first ten or 15 minutes after the car is started there is occasional hunting between third and fourth gear.
Nothing major, and it doesn't happen all the time, but I never saw this behaviour in my 2001.

"I had the same thing with my '03 TL-S. It started before my first oil change, and seemed to occur randomly. At 18,434, the tranny had enough."
Thanks for the heads-up nyerinsd. I am at 11K right now, so maybe........just maybe.............this 31,000 dollar car can manage to get all the way up to 18 K like yours did!
To say that this tranny issue is frustrating would be a massive understatement, but at least the company is standing behind the car. I will still stick with Acura when this car goes back in two years, and I will do my very best to remind the salesperson of my TWO bad trannys when talking price on the 2006 TL

Re: Tranny
I am so sorry to hear about this. My wife wanted a tl so bad, and found a good one for a song, but I wondered whether the transmission problems we Odyssey owners have had with our transmission has been shared by other Honda/Acura owners. Now my worst fear has been confirmed, but I'm not too surprised - Honda and Acura share components across many products.
Instead of just replacing transmissions, Honda/Acura needs to indicate just what the problem was, and that it has indeed been fixed in replacement transmissions. Otherwise, the distrust will only grow. I know we won't be buying any more H/A products until such a thing happens.
Peace

After driving for about 1000 miles with the replacement transmission, I'm already feeling the same "stuttering" at around 55 - 65 mph that the first one did when I bought the car. This is not a good sign.

#1900,
Hope we can have the issue resolved. why aren't they putting a trannie in on replacement that will last. I understand 1 from the factory, but wouldn't it make sense to fix the problem on replacement?

1935. I just got my car towed 5 minutes ago. It was so dangerous driving home from work with that tranny. Slipping like crazy. Good luck to all of you who had problems. Oh and by the way the back of my seat fell off, yea, just fell off. The whole back of it. I feel like I am driving a Yugo.

what are we trying to accomplish? Acura is not going to replace any trannies not under warranty... i think acura got the point after the first year of failures.

So I called Acura today to see whats going on. They said Oh we have to replace your tranny. No Shit! It will be replaced with a rebuilt one. Nice, a rebuilt one, not a NEW one. That is their policy. Assholes! It will take 8 business days. They had no loaners left at Ryan's Open Road Acura. So i go a crappy Pontiac Grand Am from Avis. Acura pays the $35 a day.
