Question Side view mirror realignment

Anyone know how to realign the passenger side view mirror? The housing is fine but the glass was knocked out of position when someone hit it. The mirror folded in and the glass came loose. I can secure the glass back but it is out of alignment. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Can't you compensate for that by adjusting it?

No, because if you use the memo feature, the mirror would turn to the stored position but because it wasn't aligned it would just keep clicking, as if its trying to force the mirror into the correct position.

UPDATE: I fixed it but not exactly sure what I did. I used the drivers side mirror as a guide. I moved the drivers side mirror all the way in and then all the way down. I then forced the passenger side mirror all the way in and then down. It works normal now!! No clicking and it auto-tilts normal again!!

Has anyone experienced a failure in the auto-tilt function with the left side mirror. Mine has finally bit the dust. It was intermittent for a while while putting tranny in reverse. Sometimes it would adjust and other times nothing. Now nothing happens.

I would say to take it to the dealer. It is "defective", right.

jpeart0: You probably know this already but do you have the passenger side mirror adjuster selected?

When you park does the driver side mirror also tilt while parking? I never noticed it.

I think you mean the passenger side mirror, right? Make sure the mirror selector switch on the driver's door is in the center position. If you leave it in the right or left position the mirror will *not* tilt down in reverse. It will only tilt down with the switch in the center (hence, the icon under the center of the mirror switch that has a mirror with a "down" arrow underneath).

Nope, just the passenger side mirror.

Pianoman41,

Thanks for the tip. I will check the switch position. I did mean the passenger side mirror. Sorry for the confusion. I will let you know if I have mistakenly left the switch in the wrong position.

Just checked my mirror adjustment switch and YES it was set to the passenger side for adjustment. Kiss this off to OPERATOR error. Thanks again Pianoman41! I feel a bit foolish but hey you saved me the embarrassment of finding out at the dealer. It works fine in the middle position.
