Post Side effects of Headers w/ stock exhaust?

I know this question has been discussed, but I wasn't able to find much using the "Search." I have comptech exhaust and am thinking about going back to stcok for noise reasons. Besides losing the 2/3 HP from the exhaust, are there any other side effects?

Nope you shouldnt have any problems. I did the same on my Old Accord, removed the aftermarket Greddy exhaust(straight through design) and left my intake and headers due to noise/resonance reasons. I was actually pleased with the low end power and torque I got back due to the increased back presssure. Not sure if you'll notice any gains like that since the Comptech isnt a straight through design, and not a complete cat back system, but I think the HP losses will be minimal.

there was a post about this a few months ago and it was decided that there are no problems with having headers and stock exhaust.

Didn't Tim (Snook) have this same setup?

Why are you changing back to stock exhaust??? What is wrong with the Comptech..is it too loud??.. I heard it up close and it really doesn't sound that loud..It sounds like a M series BMW exhaust...

I am thinking about getting rid of it b/c it is too loud. I spent the weekend driving a car w/o exhaust and am close to making the decision to unload it. It is fine when idealing or when above 3500 RPS, however, I spend an hour a day commuting at 70-80 MPH between 2-300 RPMS and the constant droan of the exhaust is somewhat tiresome. I know Snook has headers w/o exhaust and he is the man behind the site, but I tought I would ask for other's opinions on the issue.

Thanks!

As for the price once I sell, I don't know, I will put in in the sale forum.

Just turn up your music, something with alot of bass, that should drown the noise out..

I can't wait to get some exhaust on mine, but the reason is for looks not really performance as much. I think I will not get header cuz they're so expen$ive!

Not RPS... but RPM (Revolution per minute)
70-80 mph b/w 2-300 RPM??? wholy...

Anyway, there is no side effect except that you are not making the best of the increased air flow gained from the intake and the header. The engine is sucking in more air thru the intake and letting more air exit thru the header... but the increased flow stops right there. But since (like someone mentioned) Comptech isn't a catback but an axle back rather, the decrease of horsepower should be very minimum.

BTW, I had no idea Comptechs were that loud. I think you're like the third person (?) that uninstall the Comptechs due to the noise factor.

Something tells me he's not the type to blast music. Afterall, he can't stand listening to the sweet exhaust note.

Well, there is such thing as too much of a good thing. I do love how my exhaust sounds, but I don't think I'd like it if I was listening to it for like 20 mins straight. I think that's why I floor it so much.. lol
but I can never get enough of my VTEC screaming..

Trust me guys, I do little highway driving, but even after like 30 minutes at around 2000 RPM's, the exhaust can DEFINITELY get annoying. It's not really loud, but the combination of the vibration and the noise can be a little too much expecially for an hour on the highway.

The Comptech exhaust is still SWEET though!

....That's why you have a radio- to turn UP the volume to kill the exhaust noise if it gets annoying!
