Should I spend $1000 on exhaust??

Yesterday after work I stopped by an exhaust shop and inquired about an exhaust.

He said for $1000 he will cut my old exhaust out from the cat. back. remove the resignator and install wider dia. pipeing and give me two flowmaster mufflers with some new tips.

Does this sound right? I want to do this because my tl is too quiet. I also want more horsepower.

P.S. I already put an AEM short ram intake on it.

Or should I get the parts off this site?

fsttyms1<< Yeah i went in their asking about magnaflows because i saw someones video on this site and i liked the sound.

The guy at the shop said he got magnaflows for his vette because he got them for 800 instead of 1800 because he is a dealer. He said that other than the fact that it is all polished he didnt hear any different sound than his stock.

anyway this guy didnt sound to honest during the whole visit, not just the magnaflow bit. Do you know what i mean?

thats wayyy too much! also why would you want domestic flowmaster exhaust on ur TL
you could probably get a tanabe cat back system for about $200-$300 cheaper than the price that guy is telling you...

I think i can do the install myself if the parts dont need any welding. I consider myself pretty good at turning wrenches, I do it for a living on helicopters and airplanes. Should I get the parts from this site? Does it require any complicated processes?

No it's as simple as unbolting and removing the rubber hangers off their perches. $1,000 is way too much. The most expensive cat back for our car is under $1,000 and that's from Greddy. Don't waste your hard earned $$ at this guy's shop.

well.. first u need to deicde what exhaust u want on u car... the most you should pay (for an axle-back) is about $500. for a cat-back, it may be more. if you get an axle-back... install is pretty straight forward.

Use your money for headers and pulleys instead. An exhuast is probably the LAST mod I would do to my car if I could do it all over again. :*(
