Short road trip

I have a 99 TL with almost 98,000 miles on her. In July I'll be driving from Denver to Albuquerque. What type of maintenance should I have done before my trip?

nothing major. make sure you have good oil, check tire pressure, and all fluids.

If you've taken care of your ride in the past, don't worry, it shouldn't let you down. it's only got 98xxx....

See what service is due, that has not yet been done. Change the oil, and check all other fluids. Make sure you have good wiper blades, and washer fluid. Check the condition of your tires, and their pressure. Check the spare, tire and jack as well.

seafoam- new spark plugs- check the air filter- run the tires 2-4 psi higher than normal for sustained hi speed use, wash the car and use Pam or Wd40 on the nose and grill to make bug removal easy.
Clean the windows inside~
Bring new tunes!

get the 105 service with timing belt and water pump done soon- its due based on time now.

of course you will check ALL the brake lights including the center are working- test all the lights and the emergency flashers-
air is in the spare and the lug lock is there with everything.
Prevention by preparation is everything! Then nothing happens
Carry snack energy bars, lots of bottles of water, and a large mouth sports drink bottle (rinsed)
After a few waters you will see what the empty bottle is for!

You're pretty funny! The trip is only about 6 hours long so I shouldn't need a ton of snacks and water. My wife will be with me and my huge stereo so I should be alright. My only worry is that I'm riding on my aftermarket chrome wheels. 235/40ZR18. Is there anything special I should do with them?

it never hurts to be prepared for road closures and delays- fires- floods-accidents-
happens all the time where I live.

Just put 2 psi higher than you usually run in the tires- it will keep them cooler on a sustained high speed use.
And check the lug nut torque is 80 foot pounds
Carry 5 regular lug nuts for the spare tire- then you wont ever need it.

Stop and get out of the car every hour- walk around for a minute to get blood flow thru legs
Lay down on a picnic table or the ground for a few minutes to give your back a break, you will be amazed at how refreshed you feel - and a safer driver-

Dam, I just put gas in the tank and drive. You should be able to do that drive in one straight shot.

If only 2psi in the tires would fix it

I just got back from the Acura dealership to get an oil change and check up on the car. They saw that my trans mount was broken and one of my high beams was burned out. Had everything fixed for $136.66. Not too bad.
