i wouldnt worry about the CAI sucking in water unless you plan on drivint through something thats over a foot deap! if your that concerned about it get the comptech icebox. it has the highest hp gains and you dont have to worry about water

Let me ask you this. Are you really looking for performance? Then get a Comptech Icebox. Do you want nice sound? then SRI is the way to go.
Go on yahoo and type in AEM Cold Air Intake Acura TL or AEM Short Air Intake Acura TL because prices goes up and down between different distributers. Compare prices, usually around $160 for AEM CAI or around $100 for AEM SRI.

Actually on the move, a Short Ram will give gains, but mainly on the upper range of the RPM band. Reason for that being its still taking in air from the same source as before, but with much less restriction.
At speed, the temp differences between the short ram, and CAI are not that significant, and I've seen that documented with digital thermometers more than once.
Where CAI's really shine is off the line when a Short Ram is sucking in heated air, and a CAI is taking in cooler air. Also the longer the intake stack(to a point of course), the better you make out with power down low.
For the Best power gains, you want a CAI, and the Comptech Icebox is a real nice one.

Do you have to take off your bumper when you clean the CAI filter??? I assume you do. All I know is those little "tabs" or whatever you want to call them, that hold the bumper on, like to break. I broke one when I took off my intake resonator. I wonder if there is any other way to get at the filter...other than from inside the wheelwell?
just wondering cause I want to get a real intake sometime soon....still debating.
Thanks

Ya thats what I was going to say...I know the filters in the CAI are like...or even are K&N...debatable, and can go like 30000 miles between cleanings, this doesnt work if the filter gets wet or mud splashed on it. so you will probably have a dirty filter everytime you have a rain storm....thats all the time here in the good ole state of Oklahoma (and its dusty as hell sometimes).
The filter in the Comptech is reusable also right?
I cant deside....
sweet sound and looks = Short Ram
or
max HP, NO extra sound and over 2 times the $ = Comptech

we'll it depends what you're goin for when you mod your car. do you want to make it as fast as possible, or do you want to make it a show piece? or possibly both? i think that is a decision you have to make because in the end, you are the one thats going to be spending the money and your purchases should make you happy, not anyone else.

Comptech recommends that you clean your icebox filter every oil change (eps dusty area). The icebox uses the foam filter which gets dirty pretty quick even in the box. My friend changed the icebox filter to a K&N filter because he was sick of cleaning.
