Short Interesting Story

Earlier in December I had my battery replaced down at school. It was free install so the guy from Auto-zone came out and put it in as watched and kept him company in the cold.

Yesterday as I was leaving the doctors, I go to start my car and its dead. Dead. Nothing will turn on at all. It was during the day so I know I didn't leave my lights on. So as if things can't get worst I have to wait around for a jump. Bored, I pop the hood and look at the battery and make sure the two cables were secure. Bam, one of the cables was so lose it came right off. So I put it back on and pressed down. Car started and I was on my way.

It leaves me thinking, was it not properly installed? It couldn't of been the drastic change in weather in the past couple weeks. Maybe it was the battery monster Has this happen to anyone else?

make sure that you can tighten it properly. Sometimes the metal loop gets stretched out and you are unable to tighten it properly

Be sure the ends of the battery cable are tight. They should not be able to move at all. If they are not tight, your car might not start.

if they are tightened all the way and are still loose you can get some battery post shims to take care of it.

bigtuffguy,

Or like mine, the engine just keeps running if the lights are on. Something was modified or failed, though. It is supposed to turn the lights off after ~5 min.

30 seconds after you open your driver side door. If you turn off your engine and don't open the driver side door, it turns off automatically after 10 minutes.

This happened to me when I was working on my car last fall. After I put the battery back in it was fine a few days, then it would start to get finnicky. I looked under the hood and saw that it was loose on the terminal. I had it all tightened down fully and it wouldn't make solid contact. I put a makeshift shim on it and it works great now!
