Exclamation shipping tires/rims ups!

how many of you guys have called ups to ship tires/wheels and were told that they don't pick up tires from residential, when you order tires they just come right off the truck!? i found a way around the ups b.s. 1) wrap tires and rims in heavy black plastic, then wrap some packing tape down the tread for a tight fit. 2) i bought 2 25x25 heavy duty cardboard shipping boxes from mail box etc. 3) cut the side panels off the boxes, making strips of cb that will go around the tread, taping the cardboard to the plastic. this is the outer shell. 3) cut the flat box sides into four basically circuclar pieces to fit the tops and bottoms of the wheels, then go to town with a tape gun! i used like 5 rolls of clear packing tape! totally sealed! call ups and say you have 4 ind pkgs that weigh 40 lbs each. (23lbs for a stock rim and 17 lbs for a 17" tire) the dimensions are 25x25x9" deep! i was able to ship 4 tires and rims for $96.00 from fl to texas! kman

My thoughts exactly. I can just imagine the look on the UPS guy's face when he comes to pick it up.
