Question Shifting for max Accl.

In SS does anybody know the exact RPM's in each gear to shift at for the best accl time.
And if so whata re some of the best 0-60 and 0-100 times you have ran. Thanks, Anthony

Use D1 and D2 for the best times.

Dq or D2? What does that do?

Just leave it in D5 and let it rip.

Best times are always at the shift points that put the next gear in the middle of the torque peak - the factory engineers know this, and design it in.

I've gotten sub 6.5 runs (ala a Timex stopwatch .. nothing fancy) by using a method I talked about in the Topic: VSA and SS?? Page 1 or page 2.

It's not just leaving it in D1 and gunning the throttle -- you drop it into D1 and apply 75% o' max throttle to get a good launch and lock-up the tires to the pavement w/ little squeal -- then, since yer in D1, you'll still be able to catch the last couple thousand rpms of 1st gear -- as opposed to D5 -- in which you'll waste .5 sec peelin' out. While still in D1, I lock-up -- and then gun it to redline, then shift to D3 -- the car still shifts to second mid-range (bout 4000 rpms) and runs very hard. Much better launch and this technique let me edge out my buddy w/ the Buick Regal GSE. He just sits there and peels out while I got a better launch -- this time, instead of us being nose to nose -- he rode my tail w/o me gaining or v.v.

Cool

The day I can't take a Regal is the day I stop driving! My reaction time is faster than most others and I can beat quicker cars just by getting on the pedal faster!

Try the Buick Regal GSE w/ 240 hp and 280 lb-ft tq. I think your driving days may just come to a flaming halt!

now I see where Peter's Insane Poster status comes from... useless posts.

Since he seems to know everything lately... he should knwo that the Buick Regal GSE is not a real car and that ALL Buick Regal GS's are 3.8L 240HP SC V6s.

Are you TRYING to start a flamewar?

Magnetic --

You're about as ignorant as it gets. The Buick Regal GSE has the Monsoon sound system and the Chrome wheels, whereas the Regal GS doesn't have these two options. To use verbage more up to your astute upbringing, "duh," All GS models have the "whiny" supercharged series II engine.

Wong, I think you should reconsider flaming people w/ your pants around your ankles! I am quite sure you've posted quite a few times on your DO-mestic GTP/GTX and Corvette forums. Happy motoring, and oh, are you in the market for an Acura? Or do you just troll around here and post pics of your cars?

Since flamewars are not allowed, you have been emailed offline, off-forum.

The part I just want to clear up is this 'troll' / non-Acura owner thing. Did it say anywhere in the 'Rules, Policies, and Disclaimers' page that you had to be a Acura owner? Now that is ignorance. This is a place for ALL enthusiasts to come together to share their thoughts as well as experiences with Acuras and cross-vehicle topics. Its not like I dont have something useful to post... Ive helped TL-guys and gals to this date install:

Intakes, Exhausts, Swaybars, struts, springs, breaks, oil/filter, speakers, etc.

I shouldnt have to justify that... but since you feel like I have had nothing to do with TLs, etc.. I feel like I only need to clarify that point with YOU. How many people have YOU helped. GIMME A BREAK.

Wong,

You're a humbleservant, and should seriously consider getting paid for what you do ... say $5 a post?

If you'll forgive my imprudence, perhaps you'll recognize that you, attacked my post status (insane poster) as well as my "uselessness." Second of all -- you don't even acknowledge the fact that the GSE exists, hence the source of your initial anger. I'm not attacking, just stating the facts. I'm sure everyone is very thankful and appreciative of your omniscience. Have a nice day.

But on a serious note: I think getting new rubber up front is key -- at which point I totally agree w/ TLSDave -- D5 and let it rip!

I was not angered in my GSE reply. I also emailed you, but your email address listed bounced. If that worked, you would have gotten my apology to offending you.

I meant that the GSE is not a real car because of the fact that it is a option package.. a GSE is a GS with a package.. they arent different cars.. that is all I meant by that.

As to the usefullness posts ... I have no comment... it just seemed as of late you were attacking others with these 'smart' replies... I just got a little ticked off by it... sorry if it offended you.

Mag -- no harm, no foul. Peace.

-->the following is a general comment<-- not directed at Magnetic:

The only people I have "smart" replies for are the people that post these "Altima/Maxima -- I dunno guys -- Tough competition .." topics and then follow with an opening post regarding its 0-60 mph time, hence its "superiority". The same has often occurred on this end of the forum, here in the TL-S discussion, including Altima and Max "lovers." Hey, I think those cars are great, but I ticks me off a little when they keep starting the same topic .. over and over and over. You can view in previous TL-S pages how often people have posted Nissan X vs. Acura TL/TL-S. I don't spend my time on the Maxima.org forum or the GTP forum posting topics like "TL-S -- the new Maxima Killer!" .. That's cheesy, and tasteless, and more than likely isn't going to stir an interesting, healthy debate about the performance/ammenity aspects of these two cars. Plus, I respect the fact that frequent members of those forums are very much into their respective autos and probably view them as the best bang for their buck. It changes from person to person. <sorry for the novel> However, the topics that do begin, for instance: "330Ci vs. TL-S" and then follow with an intelligent opener like "I'm trying to decide between these two cars -- I'd appreciate all points of view.." .. tends to draw less aggressive, more informative posts. Once again, you may all peruse through our previous topics that support this claim. I love discussing cars, and I love hearing about new automobile technology -- hence, I'm an enthusiast. I'm just now dabbling into modifying my new auto, so I can't say I'm a resident expert on that by any means. Bring on the interesting, eye-opening discussions!

Red face

The 1956 Chrysler had chrome window pulls that rotated (as opposed to the more annoying plastic "glow-in-the-dark" pulls of the 1956 Pontiac Super Chieftian. They were more easily seen at night, though. "When there's no destination, all roads are correct."

But only at night (and the chrome babies weighed more on the launch!)

I'm sure your mistaken on the "model". The plastic "glow-in-the-dark" pulls were introduced in the 1957 Studebaker!! LOL LOL

I had a thorough grounding in the '57 Stude.
Although the "pulls" did glow in the dark, they were powered by recycled uranium. Although they tended to be a bit brighter than the normal MOPAR "irradium" material, they did tend to cause irrevirsable cancers, but as they say, "you can't make an omlette without breaking eggs". The "glow-in-the-dark" passengers in the rear seat had a detrimental effect to the overall consumer acceptance, as well. I guess you can't please everyone.
