shifting

hmmmm
I'm just wondering, do any of you guys shift through the gate instead of the sportshift? the shifts feel a bit slower, but it actually lets you stay in first gear, which is nice

and do any of you guys know if that damages the tranny? during upshift and downshift
it doesn't make sense if it would do damage, but if anyone has opinions about this, please enlighten this community

and moderators please delete the other post, the topic came out wrong and is very misleading:p

Just make sure that you don't accidently leave it in 2nd and wonder why it isn't upshifting as the engine struggles at the rev limiter. That happened to me once and I won't forget it.

I heard usin the 1 and 2 from the gate is bad because when you put it on one, it locks into one, same with two. D3 4 and 5 are driving gears. I noticed on our honda, if you shift from D4 to 2, you can feel it shift in when you are standing still.

I almost always shift using the shift gate method. It's the next best thing to a full automatic or manual.

It provides better control, firmer shifts, and my lowest 0-60 times.

SS mode is weak and Auto mode is for zombies.

Just be sure you know the difference between leaving it in D1, D2, D3 and so forth. If you leave it in D3,4, or 5, it will start at 1st gear then work itself up to the final drive gear you assigned it. But if you leave it at either D1 or 2 it will stay there. Leaving it at D2 does NOT mean you start at 1 and then shift to 2. It starts at 2 and never leaves. It is meant for starting on icy roads.

i don't see how its any worse that ss as far as affecting the tranny. as long as you shift before redline, shouldnt do any more damage.

it is definitely the best mode for racing
