Is She Worth Saving?
For the exception of the transmission and headlight solenoid, my 2003 Acura TL Type-S has been a great car to the family. The car has now been sitting with dead battery for two years. I’m now contemplating fixing it up or possibly restoring. The engine still runs strong, but the rebuilt trans installed 100k miles ago probably needs replacing. If I proceed with this project, it won’t be done DIY as I lack time and more importantly such knowledge. I suspect the big expenses will be some level of engine work, transmission replacement and decent paint job. I recognize doing such things isn’t a greatest financial decision as I anticipate the total cost to grow throughout the process. Is this worth even considering?
I feel that these type of projects are only beneficial if you are able to do the work yourself. Is there anything inherently special about your particular car? for example was it an A-spec? Was it kept in a garage or covered during the 2 years of sitting? these all could weigh in, but again, if you're paying someone else to do the work it will be pricey.

Probably only a question you can answer. You mention it has been sitting two years, so guessing you have other transportation. Sitting - is rust now an issue? have any of the wheels seized up….?? Can you afford the “restoration”’project cost?? What does having a 2nd or 3rd vehicle do for you? Do you have a 16ish year old that will be looking for a car in the near future??
