Scratches after car wash?
I have my TL-S for a little over a week now. I took it to a brushless car wash last Saturday. Today I realized that the paint doesn't look the same when you look at it closer. It still looks good, but if you look closer you can see little streaks or scratches whatever they are. Somebody told me its not actually on the paint but the clear coat.
Need some thougths on this.

My experience has been that you need to hand wash your car to keep it scratch free. Even a brushless car wash will be hard on your Blue paint. I would browse these two sites for info on removing swirl and scratch marks.

I use a microfiber wash mit when washing my car, to minimize any possible scratching. Of course, the Satin Silver won't show the scratches as much as a dark colored car.

I had the same experience with my '98 Dark Blue TL. Took it to one of those "brushless" washes. Never again! You're better off just doing it yourself. And never, I say never, take it one of those high school car washes. I had a camaro once and a high school kid either had a ring or a belt buckle on when he did my car and put a hell of a big scratch down the side. If you want the job done right, do it yourself.

Even those car washes that state "Hand Wash" use those darn cheap towels to dry. They use them on thousands of cars and don't care when they drop them and contaminate them with dirt and tiny rock particles. Then they go dry your car.....oooooo....just like using sand paper. ditto ditto.. on washing it yourself.

What was that towel or cloth that everybody uses. Is Chamois ok to use?

This is the reason I've never taken a car to a car wash. I've been tempted, especially when it's a nice weekday in mid-winter, but I've never done it, and never will....
