Scheduled maintenance at 40,000 miles? My light stays on a long time...
I'm at a little over 40,000 miles and my maintenance required light blinks for a long time when I start my car. I checked the manual and didn't see anything that looked like it should be scheduled at this time, although I did get my 30,000 mile maintenance late if that makes a difference. I also just got 4 new tires and an alignment (not installed at a dealer), is it possible they messed something up? I would bring it to the dealer but I'd like to avoid giving any more money to the local acura dealer if possible, and I dont want to drive an hr for nothing (to the nearest other dealer).

The light is only a reminder that a service is do soon or it just was not reset.
The light can be reset by you the owner very easy as the directions are in the owners manual. If the reminder was not reset it will blink when the mileage interval comes up since the last time it was reset.
So to make it simple if it was not reset by you or the dealer or someone else doing your last oil change. It has just come up to its interval since it was last reset & thats why its blinking when you start the car. If you wait awhile longer it will stay on constant when the car is on. But its not anything wrong with the car its just a reminder. I forget the exact milage interval that it starts blinking. I think the mileage interval is every 6,000 something miles when it starts to blink & then it will stay on constant after another 500 or so miles.
