Question Sanity Check - Extended Warranty from Acura

Hello,

I have an 03-TLS with 51k miles. It's at the end of the lease term and I'm going to buy it. They are trying to sell me an extended warranty - "complete" coverage, 3yr / 36k mi, 100 deductable. And the cost? A low, low $2,050.

I have never heard of an extended warranty costing so much, but there is a lot I don't know. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Joe

The dealership wanted $1700 for 2 years (comprehensive) with a $100 deductible.

Wow - at these prices you're probably better off sticking the money in a CD or money market account to use if the car has a problem.

No worth it. I got mine when I hit 10k miles and it cost me around $1100. The cost has not paid off yet since I only have had a few repairs.

Wow... $2,000? I would try and haggle them some more on the price. When I bought my 2006 I got the 100,000 mile extended warranty just because of the amount of driving I do for work. They tried to charge me $2,300 for it and I told her I wasn't interested in a warranty that expensive. She then asked me what would make me interested and I told her a cheaper price. She looked through some promo book and "all the sudden" found some promo code she entered and gave me 45% off of the $2,300, so I purchased it. Just go back in and talk to them about it.

Like we say in sales... Don't take NO from someone who can't say YES!.

Good luck.
