Royal Purple vs AMSoil vs Mobil1
What is the best oil and why?
Through my research, it appears Royal Purple has the best test results from all the research I have looked at. Costs about 25-30 cents/quart more than AMSoil and about 60 cents/quart more than Mobil1 which is actually about $15/yr or so more. But the research says it saves on gas mileage. What do we all think?

Read the Roadrage Journals and the forums at bobistheoilguy.com. Lots of info on oils. I did use Amsoil but it has a thickening tendency I don't like. Mobil 1 is popular, probably because it is readily available...it does get good reviews. Royal Purple does not get very good reviews. I currently use LE8130.

That site has way to much info on oil. Thats obnoxious. I want real practical information. Not scentific garbage about how viscosity works and how oil is produced.
Every has to use some oil is their car. What do you all use? I'm sure a lot use Mobil 1 because you can buy it at Walmart but is that really the best?

well for a start do a search this has been beat to death. Most use Mobil 1. and the others use amsoil.
i use mobil 1. i have had it tested many times at many different mileage and was changing it at 8-10,000 mile intervals (due to the testing saying it was still in good shape at those miles) i have since switched to their new 15,000 mile formula.

I am currently on my second oil change with Royal Purple. I felt it was better than Mobil 1. Even after 3000 miles, the engine purred as if I had just changed it with Mobil 1. I am DEFINITELY going to switch to the 15K Mobil 1 and give that a try. Any suggestions on where to buy?
